Position Summary:

The Automation Lead is responsible for developing and implementing automation strategies at the sites ensuring reliable and efficient operations in full compliance with GMP and EHS regulations. This includes process and equipment automation, building management systems, monitoring systems and robotics.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive automation strategy for Zoetis, aligning with the company's overall business objectives. Partner with ZTD Digital and Automation leader to develop roadmaps for the adoption, Automation platform standardization and integration of automation, digitalization, and technology across our global network of manufacturing sites.
  • Develop site automation master plans for each manufacturing site. Collaborate with site leaders, engineering teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of automation projects, adherence to best practices, and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in the design of major new projects by providing user requirements and ensuring that designs are cost effective and meet the needs of operations.
  • Analyze pharmaceutical manufacturing processes to identify areas for automation and efficiency improvement. Implement robotics solutions to optimize cycle times, reduce errors, increase efficiency, minimize contamination risks, and enhance overall productivity
  • Foster strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including ZTD, technology vendors, and industry experts. Stay abreast of emerging trends and advancements in automation, digitalization, and technology to drive innovation and maintain Zoetis' competitive edge.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of automation initiatives. Regularly assess and optimize automation processes to maximize operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality compliance.
  • Build and lead a high-performing network of site automation leads, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Provide mentorship and development opportunities to team members, ensuring their professional growth and success.
  • Ensure compliance of automation systems with relevant industry regulations and standards. Collaborate with quality and regulatory teams to maintain the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across all automation projects.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Automation, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years' experience in leading global automation, digitalization, and technology initiatives within a complex manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment.

Technical Skills and Competence Required:
  • Strong expertise in automation technologies, including process and equipment automation, building management systems, monitoring systems and robotics.
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing automation strategies and driving digital transformation in global manufacturing organizations.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic mindset, with the ability to align automation initiatives with overall business objectives.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams and drive change.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities, with a proven track record of building successful partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards applicable to automation and technology in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel globally to Zoetis sites as required.

Physical Position Requirements
  • This position is based in Parsippany, NJ (US). Other US locations will be considered.
  • Hybrid work option will be considered.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of working time.
