Automotive Technology Program Coordinator and Lead Instructor

Job Description

Founded in 1967, Blue Ridge Community College has served the residents of the central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia for over 50 years. Its comprehensive program of instruction includes associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates in occupational/technical and college/university transfer programs. The College also provides non-credit workforce training and special interest classes for individuals, business, and industry.

Responsibilities include coordination of the Automotive Technology Program and teaching Engine Repair, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, Manual Drive Train & Axles, Steering & Suspension, Brakes, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Heating & Air Conditioning, and Engine Performance. Ongoing professional development will be required by the ASEEF (formerly NATEF) accreditation agreement.

In addition to teaching responsibilities for all faculty, additional duties may include; academic advising, service to students, the college, and our community; participation in scholarly and professional activities; mentoring adjunct faculty within the discipline if applicable; support for and development of courses and programs within the discipline; community service; and institutional service. Teaching assignments may include a combination of day and evening classes at one or more locations served by the College.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

An Associate's degree in Automotive Technology with at least two years of automotive technology trade experience, current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Master & L1 Certification or ability to qualify achieve within one year, teaching/training experience, Licensed Virginia State Inspector.

Additional Considerations

Demonstrated dedication to teaching, an understanding of the community college mission and environment, and a commitment to the use of instructional technology, ASE L3 certification, Bachelor's degree in Automotive Technology or related field, experience in budget management and curriculum development
