Bilingual (Spanish) Field Representative - Construction Worker Survey

Field Interviewers are responsible for

• Making in-person contact with selected respondents to discuss the study, answer questions and obtain participation
• Collecting confidential information and administering standardized questionnaires
• Independently managing administrative duties, including participating in conference calls and completing online trainings
• When working in the field, must be willing to agree to any COVID-19-related protocols put in place by RTI.  These could include, among others, wearing face coverings or respiratory protection, gloves, taking temperatures daily, social distancing with survey respondents, getting vaccinated, and/or completing a health pledge. All safety supplies required for use on the project will be provided by RTI.
• Travel to various construction sites with at least one other team member.
• Recruit individuals working on construction sites to take the self-administered survey.
• Assist respondents who agree to participate in completing a self-administered survey on a tablet and provide a gift card incentive upon completion.
• Work flexible hours around the construction site's schedule.

RTI is seeking self-motivated and outgoing individuals to work on the Construction Worker Survey. This survey will collect information on construction workers using a self-administered web-based questionnaire. Field Representatives (FRs) will be asked to recruit workers at their construction sites to participate in the survey.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Must be at least 21 years old at time of employment
• Possess effective communication skills through speech and listening, and fluency in English through reading, writing, and speaking
• Available for entire training and data collection period
• Able to successfully complete training
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable personal automobile available for business use
• Able to keep project information confidential
• Must be fluent in Spanish (both written and spoken) and pass a Spanish certification
• Comfortable working in and driving through difficult terrain (sand, dirt, etc.)
• Comfortable using a tablet without assistance
• Strong organizational skills
• Regular access to an at-home internet connection
• Comfortable driving long distances (up to 2 hours)

Preferred Qualifications for Ideal Candidates

• Positive, self-motivated, curious, and enjoy interacting with people from culturally-diverse backgrounds
• Effective time, schedule, and workload management skills to meet set deadlines
• Computer skills, namely email and internet proficiency
• Experience working in or knowledge of construction sites
• Experience working with construction workers
• Experience recruiting individuals in-person to complete a survey
• Ability to adjust schedule to meet project goals

• The data collection period is expected to be from July, 2022 through July, 2023.
• On average, you will be needed approximately 25 hours per week when work is available.
• On average, you should be available to work in the field 5 days each week.
• The majority of this work is anticipated to be during weekdays in the daytime hours with occasional evening and weekend hours.
• Each of your trips to the field are expected to be at least 5 hours long

Training for this project is scheduled for mid-July, 2022. It will be a 2-day virtual training. Training will require availability for 4-5 hours each day.
