DescriptionJOB PURPOSE:
To provide and assist in the immediate protection and security of students, faculty, staff, and visitors in various campus buildings and/or property within the university community by enforcing the policies and procedures set by the university, state, and local laws. This position is responsible for coordinating all activities on their assigned shift.

ORAL OR WRITTEN REQUIREMENTS:
Must have the ability to communicate effectively and have good English-language skills for writing daily, weekly, and monthly reports. Must be able to read and interpret printed information. Must be able to remain calm in emergency situations and communicate with proper authorities. The ability to recall events for completing reports, testifying in court, and presenting evidence at university hearing boards as required. A working knowledge of computer skills is required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
Entry level. (Prior law enforcement, security, or military experience preferred).
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent education that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties of this position. Must be certified by the State of Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services as a CSO within 180 days of employment and have a valid Virginia State Vehicle Operators License. Emergency medical (EMT), CPR and AED is also preferred.
