Gorrill Palmer is part of LJB Engineering, a national, multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm with six main business lines which include: Transportation, Municipal, Land Development, Water Resources, Buildings Structure Design and Safety/Fall Protection Design and Installation. Our diverse expertise, client base and geographies have enabled LJB to serve clients in all 50 U.S. states and several countries.

We are currently seeking candidates to fill the position of Project Manager for the Municipal team in South Portland, ME. You will be expected to immediately impact our firm as we seek the best methods to serve our clients. You must exhibit a professional attitude, visionary thinking, innovative ideas, analytical problem solving and a willingness to collaborate while having the ability to work independently.

Pay: $85,000 - 150,000

CIVIL ENGINEERING PROJECT MANAGER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Independently perform, evaluate and adapt engineering calculations or analyses to specific design situations and projects.
  • Prepare drawings and graphics using CAD platforms and other graphics software such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Prepare engineering reports, permit applications, bid documents and other typical written communication.
  • Perform construction observation, as necessary, to ensure conformance to design specifications.
  • Perform and troubleshoot stormwater and hydraulic models using various proprietary and spreadsheet-based modeling tools.
  • Prepare and review quantity takeoffs and opinions of probable construction cost for various design projects.
  • Review, understand and interpret design guidelines, specifications, ordinances and rules and regulations associated with municipal projects, including municipal, state and federal regulations, DOT design guidelines and other criteria.
  • Perform and direct basic survey work.
  • Manage multiple projects and delegate tasks to team members.
  • Prepare, review and manage scope of services, budgets, schedules and subconsultant efforts. Draft and negotiate proposals and agreements for complete projects.
  • Develop day-to-day schedules for staff and manage project budgets.
  • Attend and present at design team, client and regulatory review meetings.
  • Interact and communicate with office staff, design team members, contractors, regulatory officials and clients.
  • Manage schedules and deliverables to exceed Client expectations.
  • Serve as a resource for Design Engineers by being available and responsive to questions, checking their work and challenging their assumptions.
  • Process invoices, prepare Contract Amendments and manage receivables.
  • Receive guidance and supervision relating to overall project objectives, critical issues, new concepts, policy matters and unusual design conditions and developments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
CIVIL ENGINEERING PROJECT MANAGER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:

Education:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in CE from an ABET/EAC accredited program.
  • P.E. license preferred.
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of project management experience required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D platform.
  • Strong client relationship skills.
  • Strong leadership, management, written and oral communication skills.
