Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology or related field, with a minimum of six years professional coaching experience in respective sport. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education.

Must be a current Sam Houston State University employee in order to be considered for this position.

Serves as Assistant Head Football Coach and supervises any special function for the football program.

Coaches, supervises, and schedules athletic team activities. Oversees administrative duties such as contracts and records of student personnel. Manages projects that may include public relations and summer camps. Monitors and maintains team discipline and moral standards at all times. Teaches student athletes in the rules and fundamentals of their sport. Instructs student athletes in the areas of physical health, team concepts, and safety; designs instructions for individual or team needs. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Serves as an Assistant Head Coach. Must have a thorough understanding of specific sports rules, compliance regulations, and conference recruiting rules and policies. May be required to teach in an academic program at the discretion of the Director of Athletics. Will be required to organize and direct two fund raising events or camps a year. Expected to develop an appropriate rapport with community and University personnel. Must be knowledgeable of all NCAA and conference rules. Must adhere to NCAA and conference bylaws. Must be supportive of institutional compliance and academic programs. Must report all NCAA and conference violations to proper personnel.

Employment at will serving at the pleasure of the Football Head Coach and the Athletic Director. Evaluation of performance is based broadly on employee's contributions to the team's performance.

This position may be designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).
