Hypertherm is looking to add a Controls Engineer to our Test & Automation Team!

Position Overview

In this new role, you'll be responsible for design development, mentoring, documenting, installing and maintaining equipment with electrical controls in custom machines for Hypertherm Operations, ensuring that these systems and processes operator effectively, efficiently and safely.

Our ideal candidate will be an expert in developing software for PLC and motions controls such as Allen Bradley Compact and ControlLogix, with robots such as Fanuc, Epsom, and UR, and vision systems such as Cognex and Keyence. Your ability to demonstrate knowledge to write software and integrate a variety of other systems and components such as servo presses, sensors, PCs and gages as well as software-based products like Lab View will be critical to the team's success.

Who you are and the experience you bring:

  • Designing and developing new control systems
  • Testing, maintaining and modifying existing systems
  • Gather and analyzing data for run off and machine acceptance qualifications, presenting findings in written reports
  • Working collaboratively with design engineers, operation engineers, purchasers and other internal Hypertherm associates
  • Collaborating with clients, suppliers, contractors and relevant authorities to achieve projects requirements (Ex. Regulatory, NFPA 79 and specialty services such as for sound and emissions
  • Project Management within cost and time constrained environments
  • Understanding and ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and quality standards
  • Providing advice, training, mentoring and consultancy support
  • Purchasing equipment
  • Writing reusable software
  • Documenting test and maintenance procedures
  • Knowledge of FMEA, risk assessments, DFt/a

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience with hands on Controls automation, design, procure and build experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Solid understanding of mistake proofing principles
  • Provide ability to work collaboratively and independently, such as priotizing development process and project management while supporting ongoing projects and manufacturing
  • Microsoft Office tools, Gantt Charts, Minitab, Solid Works, AutoCAD, Power BI

$85,973.00-$143,290.00 AnnualThis is the base pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire.
Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors.
