Educational and Experience Requirement:

Bachelor's degree in related field. Four years of experience in a related field. Previous experience supervising staff preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position:

Provides training for regional clinical coordinators and supervision for staff in clinical education. Serves as the liaison between the administrative coordinator, regional clinical coordinators, the director of clinical education, and other stakeholders. Supervises the planning, development, recruitment, and maintenance of the community based clinical training sites and preceptors within the assigned regions.

Primary Responsibilities:

Requires the ability to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Ensures the maximum quality educational experience is provided and meets the curriculum guidelines of the school, program, and the Commission on Osteopathic Accreditation (COCA). Supervises the planning, development, recruitment, and maintenance of the community based clinical training sites and preceptors within the assigned regions. Manages schedules and VSLO, oversees compliance with policies and procedures and creates them when needed, and is responsible for communication with coordinators, students, and college. Oversees preceptor credentialing and data management. Verifies all documents required for credentialing, orientation, and housing are complete and maintained. Assists with the preceptor payment/stipend process, ensures timely payment, and provides reports. Identifies new clinical training sites with the regional clinical coordinators through face-to-face calls that are followed up with the appropriate communication. Requires at least one day per month conducting site visits with each regional coordinator and meeting with students in the regions. Ensures orientations at various sites are included, exams are scheduled and monitored, and housing is reserved and reconciled. Adheres to recruitment and student communication deadlines. Supports the students' orientation to the clinical training site(s) and community to ensure an exceptional experience for both the student and preceptor. Temporarily assumes responsibilities of any vacant regional clinical coordinator position until filled. Provides an overview of the mission and function of the SHSU-COM in the form of presentations to students, preceptors, health care sites, professional organizations, and community programs. Serves as an effective leader in the development of a region-wide presence with communities and in state-wide activities involving health professional programs, schools, and organizations. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications:

Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws. Ability to supervise business functions. Communicates with other university departments, personnel, and other agencies.

This position will be located in Conroe.
