CTSI Senior Staff Director, Community Engaged Research Initiative
The Duke Clinical & Translational Science Institute (CTSI) provides infrastructure, education, and resources to facilitate translational research at Duke University focusing on integrating resources and programmatic research areas across campus. CTSI is housed in the Duke School of Medicine (SOM) and has dual reporting to the Dean of the School of Medicine and the Chancellor for Health Affairs. It is the institutional home for the Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA), funded by the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
The CTSI is comprised of a number of "Communities" that focus on key strategic areas related to Duke Health. The CTSI brings together the stakeholders from all parts of the University and Health System and facilitates their work toward reaching the Chancellor's strategic goals in a given area. These Communities will form a Network that will collaborate toward the overall vision of the CTSI: Accelerating the translation of scientific discoveries into health benefits for patients and communities. One of these Communities is the Community Engaged Research Community.
Provides senior operational and project management leadership to the Community Engaged Research Community, collaborating with faculty directors on strategic planning and decision making and serving as point person for operations. Core activities include development and implementation of the strategic plan; convening stakeholders; monitoring and measuring the success of the Community's activities; and developing reports for the CTSI Executive Steering Committee and Board. Oversees portfolio/project management, communications, personnel, and financial management for the Community. Directs a variety of complex and independent activities involved in administrative oversight of the Community.
The Senior Staff Director is the operational partner to the Community's senior faculty Director and Co-Directors. He/she will report to the Equity and Learning Health Communities Pillar Chief Administrative Officer with dotted lines to the respective Community Director.
Strategic Development/Program Management
EMPLOYEE MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT
Bachelor's degree in a clinical, scientific or technical field applicable to clinical or translational research administration. Strongly prefer Master degree and/or post graduate training in clinical research, health policy, health administration, business or other related field.
Minimum eight years of progressively responsible experience in a project management, program management, administrative and/or operational capacity in an academic health center or clinical/translational research or health care delivery setting.
