RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Data Engineer in Saint Louis, MO.Responsibilities:- Data Engineer will ingest, store, transform, and curate data from various internal and external sources including on-premise databases, flat files, and cloud-based systems
- Query databases and data warehouses to access data using efficient SQL queries, PySpark, and automated data pipelines
- Optimize solutions with a focus on usability, performance, flexibility, testability, and standardization
- Demonstrate commitment to software development best practices, including documentation, reusable code design, test driven implementation, and integrated software testing
- As a Data Engineer, you will document and demonstrate each solution by producing documentation, process flow diagrams, code comments, and clear code
- Troubleshoot and analyze data inconsistencies, bugs, and performance related issues, often shifting priorities in a rapidly changing environment
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree required; Concentration in Computer Science, IT/IS, Engineering, Statistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred
- At least 3 years of experience in data engineering or related field (software engineering, data analytics, business intelligence, data science)
- Ability to adapt quickly to an existing, complex environment
- Ability to take initiative, handle multiple tasks, shift priorities, and meet deadlines
- Ability to quickly learn new concepts and software as necessary, with little oversight
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Strong SQL and Python/PySpark skills required
- Experience with ETL/ELT processes, orchestration, and workflow management required
- Knowledge of relational database management systems and data warehousing concepts required
- Experience with Git and knowledge of Azure DevOps, GitHub, or similar tools (e.g., Jira or GitLab) required
- Experience with Azure ecosystem preferred - ADF, ADLS, Databricks, and SQL Database
- Knowledge of a visualization/BI tool a plus - Power BI, Qlik Sense, Tableau, Looker, etc.
- Experience with REST APIs and stream processing preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, VBA, LucidChart/Visio, or similar tools preferred
- Experience with Snowflake, Delta Lake, Oracle, and/or Microsoft SQL Server a plus
- Knowledge of Power Apps, Power Automate, or similar tools (e.g., QuickBase) a plus
- Knowledge of SAS, R, or other programming languages a plus
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
