Radford University
Dean, College of Nursing

Radford University, a public university enrolling nearly 7,800 students, invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of Nursing. Located along the iconic Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Radford University boasts a beautiful 211-acre main residential campus along the New River in Radford; as well as vibrant learning environments in downtown Roanoke at the Carilion Community Hospital and the Roanoke Higher Education Center; and the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center located in Abingdon.

In 2020, the School of Nursing hired its first inaugural dean, and in 2021 separated from Waldron College of Health and Human Services to become an independent academic unit, similar to a College. The unit was approved in January 2024 to become the only College of Nursing in a public Virginia university. Today, the College of Nursing is a community of over 1,200 students who are taught and mentored by 48 faculty and 13 staff. The College of Nursing continues to grow - in the number of students, faculty, programs, and, ultimately, patients it impacts in the region and across the nation. The newly-designated College of Nursing has been recently fully re-accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Reporting directly to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean will lead the faculty and staff of the College of Nursing in developing and delivering educational opportunities of the highest quality possible for students, consistent with the mission of the College; promote the overall excellence and welfare of Radford University; lead the College in procuring and managing fiscal, human, and physical resources; and represent the College, its goals and needs to other external, as well as internal, constituencies. Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Nursing (preferred) or related field from an accredited college or university, and a minimum of five years of experience in academic nursing leadership at the level of Chair of above.
