Caterpillar is seeking a Development Research Technician in Sanford, NC. In this role, you will be an integral part of validating designs and software alongside the engineering community as we work to produce quality machines and work tools and resolve issues. And assist engineers in conducting technical investigations of current and future product, components, materials and processes both in laboratory and field environments.

What you can look forward to in this role:

  • Performing Needs Analysis and initiate ideas
  • Evaluating new products and processes
  • Communicating results to customers, team members and other business units
  • Contributing to the design of new products and processes
  • Performing product and process maintenance
  • Supporting managers and marketing personnel
A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail : Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
  • Technical Excellence : Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Effective Communications : Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Product Design and Development : Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
Top Candidates for this position may also have:
  • Heavy machinery experience
  • Experience in a mechanical aptitude
  • Experience in technically complex tear downs and assembly of components and equipment.
  • Experience in Re-process.
  • Experience with PD builds.

The primary location for this position is Sanford, NC.
