Job Description/Responsibilities

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) has established an interdisciplinary
Forensic Sciences master's degree program with plans to obtain FEPAC accreditation.
The program is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences with core participating
faculty from the departments of Anthropology, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, and
Criminal Justice Studies. The Forensic Science program is also a component of the Southwestern Illinois Justice and Workforce Development Campus in Belleville, Illinois.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated director who will provide leadership in
establishing and promoting the program, prepare for and oversee the FEPAC accreditation process, manage
curriculum and resources, recruit and hire part-time lecturers to teach courses,
pursue the University's goals in anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and work
collaboratively with external and internal stakeholders. The program director shall
be a full-time, tenured-eligible faculty member, appropriately qualified to meet the
program's stated mission, goals, and objectives. They will also provide leadership in
forensic science education, research, and other scholarly activities so that students are
adequately prepared for forensic science practice.

This is a full-time position with a 12-month appointment reporting to the Dean of
the College of Arts and Sciences. The successful candidate will be eligible for the rank
of Associate Professor or Professor with a tenure home in an academic department
in their discipline or related field. In addition to administrative duties, the director is
expected to teach two courses per academic year. The director is also expected
to engage in research in their area of expertise.

Minimum Qualifications
*An earned Doctorate degree appropriate for a forensic science program, preferably in
biology, chemistry, or a related field.

*At least five years relevant experience as an academic forensic scientist that included
appropriate educational, research, and service contributions to forensic science; OR at
least five years relevant experience as a forensic science practitioner, not including any
training time in an operational forensic science laboratory setting.


*Documented research experience in a forensic science discipline or in methods and
techniques adapted, validated, and implemented by the forensic science community.


*Documented management experience appropriate to the duties assigned to the
position.


Preferred Qualifications
*Proven track record of effective leadership with program development.


*Excellent communication (written and oral) skills and the ability to establish effective
interpersonal, and collaborative, relationships with a diverse range of internal and external
constituencies.


*Record of successful teaching (online and in person) in a college/university environment is
strongly preferred.


*Experience with and understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusivity issues in higher
education.

$125,000-$137,000, commensurate with credentials, qualifications, and experience.
