Summary:
The Security Director - MHW directs the department's activities and resources to ensure the 24-7-365 safety and security of all patients, visitors, staff and physicians while on the Memorial Healthcare System (MHS) premises. This role is responsible for the security of Memorial Hospital West (MHW), a 486 licensed bed acute care and Level 2 Trauma hospital, its Medical Office Building and Storage Facility as well as associated off-site locations that includes, but are not limited to, the Memorial Cancer Institute, Memorial Urgent Care Center West, and Memorial Primary Care Center at Miramar Commons.
Responsibilities:
Assists with the preparation and evaluation of departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal and external audits.Prepares Emergency Management plans, disaster plans, readiness for catastrophic and mass casualty events, environment of care assessments, annual risk assessments; along with other MHS entities, is a permanent of the System Wide Violence in Healthcare Steering Committee.Maintains a strong working and liaison relationship with law enforcement partners. Keeps updated on current or potential criminal matters impacting MHS operations.Evaluates and reviews all hospital based risk MorCare Concurrent Care Manager (MCCM) reports in close working relationship with the Risk Management and Legal Department.Develops and implements the security departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the administrative, legal and ethical requirements and objectives of the organization.Provides oversight and supervision of personnel in day-to-day duties and responsibilities promoting the safety of all from potential and actual security threats through implementation of proactive response and solutions dependent of circumstances. Ensures a positive Memorial Experience from the security programs complaint evaluation process along with the development and enhancements of other activities to achieve performance and quality control objectives. Plans and monitors staffing activities including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions and continuing education initiatives. Oversees contract security personnel, valet parking personnel and contract for off-duty detail police personnel assigned within the respective facility.Manages and evaluates departmental operations including, but not limited to, CCTV systems, access control, infant protection, burglar and fire alarm, panic button, Fast Pass visitor management system and security vehicles for rapid response and deterrence. Works with vendors to maintain and optimize security technology and equipment both in place and for new construction projects.

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Position requires ability to work off hours and be available for after hour consultation. Must be able to pass and maintain clear background investigation.
