General Summary

Granite Construction Company has an opening for an Estimator III at 701 E. Main Street, Lewisville, TX 75057. 40 hrs/wk; 9am - 5pm; M-F.

Responsibilities: Develop accurate and timely proposals and estimates for both private and public sector works projects to ensure Granite is a responsive bidder; comprehend and administer a safety program that provides for a safe work environment that meets or exceeds Granite's Annual Incident Goal, and foster a culture that expects participation at all levels; create and promote, in his/her organization, the ability to recognize and understand the appropriate environmental policies, rules, and the potential adverse effects to the environment due to operations, and take steps necessary to comply with policy/rules, and mitigate the effects of operations; create and/or foster a quality culture that recognizes the effect of quality on all operations, and takes steps necessary to provide a product or service that is a source of pride for our workers, and pleasing to our customers; analyze and compile estimate data that impact the cost of labor, materials, equipment requirements, location, and other factors to ensure a high quality and timely estimate by utilizing HCSS Heavy Bid Software; review drawings, specifications, and proposed project site conditions; record findings and solicit input from field operations to include in final project estimate; analyze alternative solutions and construction methods to increase competitiveness of the bid; review, perform quantity "take-offs" using AutoCAD, Bluebeam and AGTEK software to ensure accuracy of data used in estimates. AGTEK Software is used to generate earthwork quantities (excavation & embankment) using Cross-sectional area. Use the software to determine different strata quantities. Bluebeam software is used to perform on screen takeoffs. Utilize existing cost history as a check to complete estimate; after project award conform the project estimate into the project budget in Heavy Bid; apply mathematical calculations requiring advanced analytical processes to ensure logically estimated costs are accurate; analyze and evaluate bidding risks, strategies and present estimate and participate in bid reviews with senior management to ensure accuracy and completeness; analyze competition and communicate with owners, subcontractors, public and private entities to ensure competitiveness; communicate estimate bid information to field operations at pre-construction meetings to ensure understanding of scope of job and critical means and methods of construction; and develop and maintain business relationships to increase bid opportunities in the regional market.

Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or foreign degree equivalent, plus 5 years of post-bachelor progressively responsible experiencein infrastructure construction industry as Engineer and/or Estimator; or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or foreign degree equivalent, plus 3 years of experiencein infrastructure construction industry as Engineer and/or Estimator. Experience must include: working on rail transportation projects; work with MS Office products, including Word and Excel; vendor & subcontractor quote solicitation; performing on screen take-off's using Bluebeam; cost and production tracking; and change order work using HCSS Heavy Bid Software. Experience may be obtained concurrently.

Base Salary Range:
$96,850.00 - $145,275.00
Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
