Meet the team:

Join the Dexcom San Diego Facilities Engineering team where you will work closely with Manufacturing Operators and Innovators to provide planned and unplanned Facilities systems support.

Where you come in:

  • You will perform facilities system equipment preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • You will operate and maintain utility systems, building systems & associated controls, sub-systems, auxiliaries, and accessories.
  • You will initiate troubleshooting and diagnoses for equipment problems and conduct tests & repairs to return systems to normal operation.
  • You will conduct regular frequency inspections of buildings and equipment for normal operation.
  • You will utilize a computerized maintenance management system to log your work.
  • You will manage small projects throughout their entirety.
  • You will share on-call/after-hours facilities engineering support.
  • You may occasionally provide guidance to junior members of team.

What makes you successful:
  • The ability to read, understand and discuss Engineering and Construction drawings, system and equipment diagrams and P&IDs.
  • Having substantial knowledge and understanding of engineering fundamentals with respect to Mechanical and Electrical systems and equipment.
  • Having a basic understanding of the Quality system, GMP environmental controls and the CAPA process.
  • Having knowledge of proper use and maintenance of hand and power tools related to job functions.
  • Possessing EPA Section 608 Universal certification & ability to reclaim, repair and charge refrigerant Dx gas systems.
  • Possessing advanced operational knowledge of at least 3 major systems HVAC & Controls, domestic and industrial water systems, compressed air systems, refrigeration, Purified water systems, electrical systems & emergency power, UPS and other related controls and systems.
  • Being able to work long hours, holiday and weekends as necessary.
  • Being able to work shifts other than normal business hours to include weekends - as necessary/assigned.

Experience and Education Requirements:
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2-5 years of related experience.

Language Skills:

Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Examples of English language proficiency may include (but are not limited to): ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to verbally communicate with leadership, employees, and auditors; ability to comprehend spoken language.

Physical Demands:

Employees in this position may be required to perform the following physical activities: standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods of time; frequent use of the hands, fingers, wrist, and greater arm to handle small materials, tools, boxes, and trays; lifting and carrying objects up to 50Ibs; occasional overhead reaches and lifts; occasional lifts and reaches below the knee; occasional pushing and pulling of materials and objects with moderate forces; occasional crouching/kneeling, twisting, and squatting movements.

Work Environment:

Employees may be exposed to the following environmental conditions while performing this job: work near moving parts, work with chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, exposure to intense light and/or intermittent light, fast-paced work, and elevated noise levels.
