Location: Scottsdale, Arizona

Hours: 5:00 am - 1:30 pm

Days: Monday - Friday

In this role, you will:

  • Perform all technical aspects of grossing and dictating tissue specimens using a variety of laboratory materials and equipment under direct supervisor of Pathologist or Pathologist Assistant.
  • Ensure specimen integrity upon arrival and throughout the entire process.
  • Dictate a gross description for each specimen including, but not limited to anatomical site, size, color, weight, dimensions, count, volume, cut techniques, abnormal findings, dissects and prepares tissue for cassettes.
  • Escalate non-routine complicated specimens to the Pathologist.
  • Prepare dissected tissue specimens and place into cassettes.
  • Load prepared cassettes into tissue processors and start processor.
  • Perform Quality Control and Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Label requisitions, specimen containers, and cassettes.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and tracks all routine maintenance and quality controls performed.
  • File, retrieve, and distribute blocks, slides, and pathology reports.
  • Operate, clean, and sterilize laboratory equipment, glassware, instruments and workstation.
  • Dispose of hazardous chemical wastes per regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality.
  • Comply with all State, Federal, professional regulations as well as company and departmental rules, polices, and procedural manuals.
  • Adhere to CAP, CLIA, State Regulations, HIPAA, Safety and OSHA Regulations.

All you need is:
  • Associate's Degree in the field of Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory technology obtained from an accredited institution or equivalent under the 1988 Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) guidelines of high complexity testing ** OR ** Education/training equivalent to the above that includes at least 60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution. This education must include 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses, or 24 semester hours of science courses that includes 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology, and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination
  • Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including but not limited to: telephones, computers, microscopes.

  • 2+ years of laboratory training or experience in a high volume laboratory with documented special stain and immunohistochemistry experience
