The Head of Gear & Equipment role will report to the Chief Executive Officer in Austin, Texas and will play the critical role as the leader of this important category. The role will drive the development and success of YETI's gear and equipment product portfolio, including Hard Coolers, Cargo and other Gear & Equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Product Strategy and Portfolio Management: Designing and owning a product strategy and roadmap that aligns with the company's overall goals and objectives, considering market trends, consumer needs and the competitive landscape. Managing the Gear & Equipment product portfolio, including assessing product performance, determining new product introductions and overall product lifecycle management.
  • Product Development: Leading the product development process from concept to launch, leading design, engineering and partnering with manufacturing teams to ensure products meet quality, cost and timeline targets. This will include not only organic product development but also working alongside the VP, Corporate Development to target inorganic product growth through M&A.
  • Market Research: Conducting market research to identify consumer preferences, trends, and opportunities for new product development or improvements to existing products.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborating with the Quality team to establish and maintain quality standards for products, ensuring they meet or exceed customer expectations and comply with relevant regulations.
  • Supplier Management: Collaborating with the SVP, Supply Chain and Operations and the Operations team on managing relationships with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure product quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery
  • Brand and Marketing Management: Collaborating with the Chief Marketing Officer to support YETI's brand strategy and product marketing, ensuring products and positioning are consistent with brand values and messaging.
  • Sustainability: Incorporating sustainability principles into product development practices, aligning with YETI's commitment to environmental responsibility.
  • Team Leadership: Leading and developing a team of product managers, program managers, designers and engineers by providing guidance, coaching and support to drive product innovation and success.

Qualifications and Attributes:
  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 20 years of product management, product development, or a related field within consumer-centric global brands.
  • In-depth knowledge of the consumer goods market with active, outdoor a plus, including trends, competitors and consumer preferences.
  • Experience successfully scaling product by developing merchandising strategies and delivering product assortments that drive sales and profitability.
  • A creative and innovative mindset, with the ability to develop unique product concepts and solutions that meet consumer needs and differentiate YETI's products in the market.
  • A deep understanding of the outdoor enthusiast's mindset and lifestyle.
