POSITION SUMMARY
Under minimal supervision, performs specialized process to heat treat parts including the cleaning, arranging, loading and unloading of parts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete OJT and online courses to earn Heat Treat Level I
Under the direction of Level II or Level III:
Verify part cleanliness before and after heat treatment
Properly rack parts
Load work into and out of furnace
Set temperature controls
Demonstrate understanding and operation of chart recorder
Verify temperature and soak times
Verify conformance to work instructions
Quench parts
Straighten parts
Perform stress relief operation when required
Perform visual inspections
Complete paperwork accurately and neatly, including logs, shop traveler and internal heat treating certification
Must also comply with quality policies, specs and other instructions
Perform all other duties, as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to stand, walk (on concrete surfaces), bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and lift to perform repetitive movements
Must be able to lift/push/pull objects up to 35 pounds, heavier objects require assistance
Ability to adhere to safety policies
Must be able to use computer to enter data
Strong attention to detail
Must have working command of the English language and be able to communicate orally and in writing (basic oral instructions, simple written memos and instructions)
Must be able to read and interpret drawings, use simple math to perform basic calculations and use basic hand held measuring tools
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED Required
1-3 years’ previous work experience in a manufacturing environment
