The HR Generalist is responsible for delivering excellent service by effectively assisting and providing support to the HR Team and broader employee base. The HR Generalist partners with team members on areas including, but not limited to, employee relations, Leaves of Absences and administrative support. This role will support the Texas Water Company employee base but will also be responsible for duties across other operating units.

  

The HR Generalist is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the department, including administrative support in HR systems. This role also provides excellent customer service to employees by responding to all inquiries within 24 hours.  

  • Acts as the primary point of contact for employee leave request. Administers the Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability and Workers Compensation process to ensure high levels of support. 

  • Assists in the resolution of routine employee relations issues. Partners with managers and employees to respectfully resolve work related problems. 

  • Provide administrative support to the HR team including calendar management, report creation, meeting planning, presentation creation and editing, mailing, scanning, and overall office support. Prepares expense reports, approves invoices and check request forms in a timely manner. 

  • With support, successfully administer and maintain aspects of the recruiting process. This includes managing the authorization, posting, candidate selection process for assigned positions, managing the applicant tracking system, all external postings and all aspects of documentation related to recruitment and compliance. Ensure a great candidate experience and compliance with state and federal laws related to recruiting. 

  • Perform required pre-employment skills assessments and evaluations; assist with candidate selection, track and maintain results in the appropriate manner. Ensure others involved in the process are coached on how to interview and that the process is legally complaint. Once the candidate is selected, perform all administrative functions related to recruiting, such as offer letters, scheduling interviews and other correspondence. Complete all steps related to the new hire process. Including, but not limited to scheduling pre-employment physicals, completing background checks, preparing and sending correspondence. Conducts exit interviews. 

  • Personally, and by enlisting support from others, ensure successful onboarding of all new hires. This will include providing training on HR related systems, determining the source for all other required training and following up on a set schedule to make sure the system is complete. Use the onboarding process to begin integrating employees into the Company. 

  • Regularly create or coordinate Human Resources communications for Company newsletters and initiatives. Regularly assist with the update of related sections of the HR portal, including the current announcements and policy links. 

  • Handle and maintain confidential files and documents. Distribute and disseminate confidential documents to the appropriate people and systems as needed. Maintain certain digital documents and files as required. 

  • Assist in organizing employee events. 

  • Respond to audit requests and coordinates responses between the HR team and auditors.  

  • With support, manage and maintain Cornerstone, the company talent management system. Actively solicit content, train others on utilizing the system, and continue to ensure the system adds value to the organization and supports the Company learning and development initiatives. Manage and maintain the administrative aspects of the performance management, applicant tracking, onboarding system, and learning management modules of the system. This will include training internal users on the tool, ensuring the tolls are efficiently communicating with each other and fully optimized. 

  • As part of the HR Team, maintain Company policies and practices. Provide policy information to employees as requested. Participates in employee engagement activities. Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.  

  • Additional duties or responsibilities as assigned
