RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Herndon, VA that is seeking a Linux System Administrator that will handle a variety of responsibilities including configuring, monitoring, and maintaining Linux operating systems.Responsibilities:- Linux System Administrator applies technical knowledge to assist clients in the design and development of solutions to complex technical engineering and applications problems, network challenges, or system administration issues
- Establishes the basic structure of the system, defines essential core design features and elements that provide the framework
- Incorporates engineering strategies for introducing new technology into the customer's infrastructure related to its business processes of collection, analysis, production, and dissemination
- Performs cost-benefit analyses to determine whether requirements are best met by manual, software, or hardware functions
- Making maximum use of commercial off-the-shelf or already developed components
- Applies knowledge of enterprise IT or engineering needs to design improved processes, generate valid requirements, and ensures that these are consistent with the customer's enterprise technical architecture
- As a Linux System Administrator, you may participate in business development activities
- Responsible for initial design and development of new systems or extensive systems revisions to support the total requirements as well as provide for present and future cross-functional requirements
- Ensures these systems are compatible and in compliance with the standards for agency IT architectures, and profiles of standards as they apply to the implementation and specific to the solution for the platform, integration with other systems
- Ensures that the common operating environment is compliant
- Evaluates analytically and systematically problems of workflows, organization and planning and develops appropriate corrective action
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; Additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of the degree
- 5+ years of Linux Administration experience
- 2+ years of patch and vulnerability management
- 1 year of experience implementing with Hardened Baseline Configuration standards and controls
- Experience in large scale Production Support Server Environment
- Experience managing and deploying Gold Images
- Handling escalated incidents or high critical tickets
- Predicting Risk/Impact and Participating in Major Changes
- Reporting & Performance Dashboards with Capacity Planning
- Vendor Management
- Technical Transition & Documentation skills
- Design, migration and upgrading of existing infrastructure
- High level of understanding of risks associated with controls like CIS
- High level understanding of risks created by vulnerabilities
- High level of understanding RHEL satellite server management
- High level of experience with RHEL patching processes and procedures
- Knowledge of process to rollback patches as needed
- Ability to follow standard work and produce appropriate documentation
- Able to independently troubleshoot issues
- Ability to assist in audit data gathering
- Familiarity with different hardware configurations a plus (e.g. 3-tier, hyper-converged)
- Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
- Proficient in Ansible automation code
- Cloud computing experience and knowledge
- Experience with PowerShell
- Experience with Service Now
- Experience with VCF
- Experience with HPE DL class Gen10 + Servers
- Experience with VMware/VMware Cloud Foundation
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
