A litigation assistant in a personal injury law firm provides essential administrative and clerical support to attorneys and paralegals involved in litigation matters. Here's a typical job description for a litigation assistant in a personal injury law firm:

  • Case Management: Assist attorneys and paralegals in managing a caseload of personal injury matters. This involves organizing and maintaining case files, including correspondence, pleadings, medical records, and other relevant documents.
  • Document Management: Prepare, review, and edit legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and correspondence. Ensure accuracy, formatting consistency, and compliance with court rules and procedures.
  • Calendar Management: Maintain attorney calendars, including scheduling court appearances, meetings, deadlines, and other important events. Coordinate with attorneys, clients, court personnel, and other parties as necessary.
  • Client Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, answering phone calls, responding to emails, and relaying messages between attorneys and clients. Provide updates on case status, schedule appointments, and assist with client intake and follow-up.
  • Discovery Support: Assist with the discovery process by organizing and indexing documents, tracking document production and responses, and preparing discovery-related correspondence. Coordinate document review and production with attorneys and clients.
  • Court Filings and Procedures: Prepare and file legal documents with courts, administrative agencies, and other entities. Ensure compliance with court rules, filing deadlines, and electronic filing requirements. Coordinate service of process and assist with court-related logistics.
  • Trial Preparation and Support: Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions. Coordinate trial exhibits, witness lists, and other trial materials. Attend trials and hearings to provide administrative support, such as managing exhibits and taking notes.
