Position Overview

The worker provides mechanical maintenance and inspection to company vehicles. This includes checking fluid levels, visually inspecting belts, and hoses for signs of wear, and other repairs that may be required. From below the vehicle, the worker will ensure that a drain barrel is placed under the vehicle's oil drain plug, drain oil from crankcase, refill the crankcase with required amount of oil and remove and replace the oil filter. The worker will provide service to the radiator by draining, replacing, and/or replenishing coolant, use grease guns to lubricate the vehicle's fittings/joints, and visually inspect the undercarriages of the vehicles for any problems.

Wage: $20-$30 /hr DOE w/ potential for overtime

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
  • Perform routine vehicles maintenance (change oil and filter, lubrication, coolant, and fuel).
  • Troubleshoot problems, making economical and durable repairs.
  • Analyze malfunctions and report need for further diagnostics or repair to shift lead or shop foreman.
  • Operate and inspect vehicles and equipment to diagnose defects.
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hand tools.
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear.
  • Use computer-based maintenance software to create work orders, schedule PMs, and document needed repairs.
  • Perform general cleaning of work areas and maintenance areas.
  • Assist other maintenance department staff in performing the duties necessary to assure the efficiency of operations of vehicles.
  • Ability to perform DOT inspections and brake adjustments.
  • Perform and maintain fluid analysis program.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.
  • Regular and timely attendance.
  • Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.
  • Routinely assist other members of the work force in different areas of production.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Minimum Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Computer and Database knowledge.
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrates the willingness to learn and work a variety of job tasks.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical exam and pre-employment-controlled substance testing.
  • Must have current US Authorization to work or ability to obtain without company assistance prior to start date.

Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
