What to expect:

Martin Marietta is seeking a Night Shift Machinist to join at our Salisbury, NC shop. Reporting to the Shop Manager, the Machinist will primarily be responsible for safely pre-machining and finish machining rock crusher components and sub-assemblies as part of an overall remanufacture process. This is a night shift position. Working hours for this position will be 10:00 pm to 6:30 am Sunday evening through Friday morning.

A typical day for a Machinist may include:

• Maintaining a high level of safety and ensure that the team maintains a safety-first culture

• Setting up, operating and adjusting a bolt threading machine, large radial arm drill press, conventional lathes, horizontal milling machines, a Bridgeport milling machine and a manual key seater

• Adjusting feeds and speeds for maximum safe material removal

• Operating 3 CNC vertical turning lathes, one of which has live tooling

• Utilizing Fanuc and Siemens controllers to program using G-code at the controller interface

• Utilizing common measuring tools such as inside and outside micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges, thread gauges and pins, tape measures and pi tapes to confirm work is within specified tolerances

• Recording measured information on relevant quality control sheets

• Performing operations such as grinding, polishing, drilling, tapping, turning and boring.

• Using basic hand, electric and pneumatic power tools

• Deburring parts upon completion of the machining process

• Completing task training on all overhead cranes, forklifts, and sweepers within 90 days of hire

• Using 5S methodology in conjunction with the floor sweeper to maintain a clean and safe workplace

• Cleaning and shoveling cutting chips and transporting them to the hopper

• Using a four jaw chuck to indicate parts along with hydraulic and screw jacks.

• Extending total life expectancy of Martin Marietta assets by learning PM procedures for all equipment utilized and remanufactured by the machinist group

• Reporting damaged tools and tag out of service so that they can be replaced

• Performing operational equipment checks daily

You may be a good fit if you:

• Believe and practice safety as the number one priority

• Have obtained a HS Diploma or GED

• Are a self-motivated, strong work ethic individual that is willing to work with minimal supervision and at high level of accountability to operational requirements

• Possess a 2 year degree or technical machining training from an accredited institution

• Utilize a computer with basic skills to report and transfer information

• Can lift up to 50 lbs
