About the job: The Maintenance Assistant assists the Engineering Supervisor in maintaining all grounds, buildings, apartment homes, and equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Under the direction of the Engineering Supervisor, performs routine maintenance duties to complete all service requests for repair and maintenance of all grounds, buildings, apartment homes, and equipment in a timely and cost-efficient and safe manner.
  • Assists in the execution of preventative maintenance program.
  • Communicates with the Supervisor for needed technical advice, product information, and research and quality assurance guidance.
  • Advises the Supervisor of the overall condition of the equipment and furnishings of the community.
  • Assists with Fire Safety and Disaster Preparedness Evacuation procedures which includes the mandatory recall of A/B Team Members in a true emergency; ex., Hurricane, Flood, etc.
  • Interacts with residents and staff in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Performs security duties as needed.

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Must have basic technical knowledge and mechanical ability to perform routine maintenance and repair on mechanical and electrical equipment and possess a basic knowledge of construction principles.
  • Able to meet the requirements identified in the Essential Functions.
  • Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation.
  • Ability to pass drug, criminal and employment screenings.
Preferred Skills:
  • Effective communicator with staff, residents and outside contractors.
  • Ability to prioritize duties.
