We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manufacturing Manager to join our team. The Manufacturing Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading manufacturing from initial design phase to final production and delivery. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, designers, and other production staff to ensure that quality standards are met and that production goals are achieved on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe work environment exists through safety awareness, training, continuous hazard assessment, incident investigation and OSHA compliance.
  • Provide leadership to meet equipment quality, delivery, and cost requirements.
  • Provide leadership to improve production scheduling, inventory management system, and productivity.
  • Determine production requirements and adjust resources to match demand.
  • Provide input on manufacturing budget and manage operations within established parameters.
  • Provide leadership in development of extended manufacturing. Assist in development and improvement of procedures. Assist in identification and development of new suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance to quality system and promote improved performance.
  • Lead identification and execution of opportunities for process improvements.
  • Identify efficient designs for manufacturing and submit suggestions for design or process changes to reduce cost and improve function.
  • Provide leadership in training and development of Koch individual competencies in all manufacturing team members. Evaluate and training and development plans to improve individual performance.
  • Approve pay in accordance with wage structures.
  • Interview and hire staff.
  • Investigate grievances and complaints and work toward mutually acceptable solutions.
  • Develop positive labor-management relations. Effectively communicate information throughout manufacturing. Provide manufacturing leadership in labor negotiations.
  • Maintain manufacturing schedule for each shop work area that meets customer-required delivery schedules, minimizes storage demand, and optimizes manufacturing resources. Continuously improve the format, content, timeliness, and accuracy of the schedule.
  • Input new job information and work-in-progress job updates daily. Revise schedule to accommodate rush orders, late orders, customers, or in-plant breakdowns, etc.
  • Serve as communication link between manufacturing and engineering, purchasing, sales, and field personnel with regard to manufacturing schedule.
  • Maintain a shipping-on-time report.
  • Develop and coordinate weekly truck schedule. Distribute schedule to field internal and external customers. Provide commercial transportation to manufacturing shops. Plan for delivery with carriers and field personnel.
  • Review and understand contract provisions for delivery. Prepare all export documentation and coordinate export shipments. Identify alternative transportation to ensure undamaged delivery on time and at the lowest cost.
  • Participate in schedule, launch, project review and job-related meetings.
  • Monitor work area performance in meeting cost and schedule requirements.
  • Provide daily production progress updates to engineering and estimating to produce eight-day and twenty-four-hour production schedules through short interval schedule meetings.
  • Ensure materials and equipment are on hand for team members prior to making work assignments. Maintain accurate inventory within the work area at minimum possible levels.
  • Oversee manufacturing purchase orders. Procure products and/or services from suppliers at the lowest total cost. Negotiate price & delivery on all purchases.
  • Provide new team members job orientation. Provide team member training in safe and proper fabrication methods.
  • Evaluate performance of all team members and develop training/development plans to improve individual performance.
  • Provide work area leadership in initiating quality procedures and work instructions necessary to build equipment according to customer specifications and lowest cost.
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement in personal performance.


  • Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field preferred.
    • At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing management or a related field.
    • Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate and develop a team.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
    • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, material and schedule control, and metal fabrication shop management of engineered-to-order products.
    • Expertise with ERP systems, MS Office Suite (advanced Excel capabilities), and MS Project.
