Manufacturing Engineer

Mapleton, IL

The Mapleton Foundry is one of the largest in the United States and home to the largest core making machine in the world! Working at the foundry is hard work that demands focus and safety, quality, and commitment to helping our customers build a better world.

With over 800 employees at the foundry, we are looking for someone who can support process development projects for the continuous improvement of the safety, quality, velocity and cost of manufacturing. This position would support the foundry manufacturing process for the melt department.

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical expertise and guidance in major manufacturing projects, working with internal/external suppliers to support/improve manufacturing productivity and cost effectiveness.
  • Implementing major systems and the coordination of those systems with the total plant.
  • Providing guidance to manufacturing engineers and operators in order to develop high quality products and processes.
Top Candidates Will Have:

Foundry process experience related to molding, core making, meting/holding furnaces, iron pouring, or casting cleaning.

Skill Descriptors

Judgment and Decision Making: Level Working Knowledge:

Knowledge of the decision-making process; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance.

Lean Manufacturing: Level Working Knowledge:

Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.

Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies, and Safety: Level Extensive Experience:
Knowledge of organizational and safety standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.

Problem Management Process - MFG : Level Working Knowledge:

Knowledge of manufacturing problem management processes, methodologies and techniques; ability to use a disciplined approach to bringing that problem to a successful resolution.
