SUMMARY

Responsible for the design of production tools and process instructions and for the development of solutions for production. Completes process validation, DOE, and cost savings initiatives when appropriate. Supports troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance on machines and equipment. Helps ensure quality by making machine and control adjustments, tracking scrap and making process improvements.

Ultimately responsible for managing the technical aspects of the molding department (ex. tooling trials / coordinating DOE, mentoring technicians, mold and fixture design and maintenance) to produce quality molded parts.

This role will report through engineering and have dotted line responsibilities to the Value Stream Manager and Mold Shop Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Optimization of injection molding process through process design, process plan, design plan for production instructions to achieve Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost targets
* Drive continuous improvement and productivity gains through SMED and TPM activities
* Helps monitor productivity by tracking yields and equipment downtime
* Ownership of mold, tool, and equipment maintenance
* Assists with the installation, debug and validation of process equipment through the use of tools and activities including FEA, DOE, PFMEA, SPC, VA/VE
* Research new methods and equipment for molding operations and subsequent connector assembly
* Continually improve the setup and standard work on new and existing builds
* Provide training when necessary to the operators and technicians
* Interact with material and equipment suppliers as required

*Other duties as required in support of the department and the company

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Carlisle Interconnect Technologies is a clean facility, housing different machinery, equipment, processes, and

chemicals which produce potential hazards in the work environment such as: ergonomic, chemical, machine point

of operation and powered industrial vehicle traffic. These hazards are controlled through means of engineering

controls, such as machine guarding, and administrative controls, such as safety policies and programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 7+ applicable years' experience.
* Broad and proficient knowledge of many manufacturing processes and equipment including plastic and silicone injection molding, tool design, metal machining, and electromechanical assembly.
* Knowledge of IPC/J-STD standards desirable
* Understand and interpret customer requirements, to include new product launch; review and approve PPAP & APQP (Control plans, PFMEAs, MSAs, GR&R, etc.)
* Ability to review, analyze and understand MRP reports
* Demonstrated ability to embrace and foster an atmosphere of continuous improvement with a proactive approach utilizing problem-solving skills for resolution
* Must be able to analyze data versus requirements to determine the integrity of products produced
* Analyze processes, products, test results or other data to facilitate problem solving
* Experience in aerospace and defense industry working within AS9100 regulations is preferred
* Working knowledge of MS Office tools
* Skilled in root cause analysis, 8D, etc.
* Working familiarity with ERP and configuration management tools
* Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T) mastery
