Purpose

Responsible for the development and oversight of the CRS Mentoring/Youth Program. The incumbent ensures program quality and performance related to the program. Responsible for ensuring that services are youth centered, culturally and linguistically appropriate, community-based services to immigrant youth that reside in the local community.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the CRS Program Manager with supervision of the Mentoring/Youth Program Case Managers, program reports, and coordination of client services.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the mentoring/youth program.
  • In conjunction with the CRS Program Manager, the Senior Case Manager will hold monthly meetings with program staff to ensure program services are delivered at the expected level.
  • Ensure that ratios and appropriate supervision levels are continuously met as per contract requirements.
  • Support mentoring/youth program team members to troubleshoot crisis issues that arise with children and responsible adults.
  • Responsible for coordinating services with parents, schools' staff, tutors, libraries, extracurricular activities, and other entities to ensure that the youth's needs are met.
  • Responsible for entering accurate client information, case notes in a timely manner, and all other required forms and documentation.
  • Responsible for ensuring that case files are in accordance with specifics of the CRS grant and CWS/IRP standards and procedures.
  • Conduct a first assessment to identify the participants' needs.
  • Work with families to develop appropriate plans for the participants, such as a mentoring schedule or a youth development plan.
  • Monitor progress towards goals and objectives, communicating with parties involved in the case, and adjusting as needed.
  • Create a monthly review to analyze program progress.
  • Communicating regularly with participants and their parents about their progress in meeting goals and objectives.
  • Reviewing report cards from school or other professionals involved in the case, such as teachers and tutors, to ensure that progress is being made.
  • Coordinating tutoring sessions to provide school assistance to improve GPA results and help the participant to achieve their goals.
  • Assessing the needs of the participant, identifying risk factors, and creating a case plan that outlines goals and objectives.
  • Providing support and guidance to participants and families during times of transition or crisis, including divorce, illness, or death in the family.
  • Monitor the safety and well-being of participants including but not limited to indications of abuse and neglect.
  • Serve as a mandated reporter and work with child welfare as needed.
  • Network and develop partnerships within the local community to educate providers on participants' needs and to reinforce/increase partnerships in relevant areas.
  • Participate in local and regional meetings that pertain to service provision for the target population.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as requested.

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, and as part of a team.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong professional ethics and sensitivity in dealing with confidential matters.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent work experience in social work, education, psychology, sociology, or other behavioral science.

Experience:

Minimum of 4 years' experience working with children and youth, mentoring and family reunification/ preservation, and or foster care/child welfare; previous work experience and interest working with foreign born populations is required.

Other Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as assigned. Fluency in English, Haitian Creole and/or Spanish fluency required (spoken and written).

Special Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver's license and suitable transportation.
  • Must complete motor vehicle record check.
  • Must be willing and able to travel.
  • Background check required.
  • Level 2 Fingerprint check required.
