Position Title: Milling - Machine Operator

Business Unit: Flooring North America

Department: Manufacturing

Primary Objective: In broad terms, briefly state the major purpose of primary objective of this position.

Safely monitors and produces a quality product to documented standards in the quantities specified by the production schedule.

Major Function and Scope: Using brief narrative statements, describe each major function of responsibility explaining the scope of the function as appropriate.

  • Complies with all company safety rules and procedures
  • Monitors product and process to ensure quality of product to documented procedures
  • Makes required adjustments to maintain quality of product
  • Records and reports production numbers including disruptions and rejects
  • Loads, unloads, and moves material using forklift as needed
  • Coordinates and executes to published schedule
  • Changes and adjusts tooling as required
  • Maintains quality and the quantity of the output of the production line during course of shift
  • Performs required preventative maintenance
  • Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervisors
  • Helps train assistant operators on the various roles & responsibilities of a full Machine Operator; utilizing opportunities to train in real time as things occur during shift
  • Follow all established standard operating procedures
  • Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
  • Perform other tasks assigned by management

Type of Experience and Knowledge:

Knowledge, Experience, Certifications: Describe the education, knowledge required, years of experience, specific skills and abilities required to do the job on a fully competent basis.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Achieves minimum acceptable levels on Work Keys assessment tests for Applied Mathematics, Applied Technology, Locating Information and Reading for Information
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience in a fast-paced work environment
  • 3+ years of experience with automated machines
  • 3+ years of experience adjusting machine to produce quality product
  • Forklift experience or willingness to learn to operate forklift
Competencies: Describe the specific skills required for this position in terms of technical, managerial, interpersonal skills and unique abilities.

• Basic computer skills

• Basic math/reading skills

• Good mechanical aptitude

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
