What to expect:

Martin Marietta is seeking a Night Shift Leadperson to join at our Salisbury, NC shop. Reporting to the Shop Manager, the Night Shift Leadperson is responsible to plan, coordinate, and manage all workflow during night shift operations as it pertains to our rock crusher remanufacture processes. This is a night shift position. Working hours for this position will be 10:00 pm to 6:30 am Sunday evening through Friday morning.

A typical day for a Night Shift Leadperson may include:

  • Opening each work shift with a toolbox talk communicating daily work objectives of the team along with all relevant safety topics and demonstrations in order to meet safe production as outlined by management.
  • Ensuring a safe work environment for others and self through our Guardian Angel Program at all times and believes ZERO is achievable with regards to all safety metrics.
  • Supporting SLAMs for work team by questioning, mentoring and providing direction before starting work.
  • Establishing and assigning teams to complete projects based on weekly work order meetings and priorities deemed most important by our customers.
  • Maintaining housekeeping and appearance standards as established by OSHA/MSHA regulations, Martin Marietta policies, Adopt Our Shop initiatives and 5S efficiency improvements.
  • Using Crucial Conversations to address sensitive and problematic behavior before disruption to work group occurs.
  • Leading and developing crew through positive reinforcement and coaching.
  • Cross training members to build experience amongst the crew.
  • Maintaining quality of all products by ensuring our quality control program is followed during the shift.
  • Completing safety inspections, quality control sheet approvals and closing work orders in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Performing standard office duties, plant duties and operate mobile equipment.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective communication within all areas of operation.
  • Distributing work order packets before jobs commence and ensuring accuracy of parts to be ordered.
  • Conducting regular inspections for safety, housekeeping and mechanical issues.
  • Performing annual performance evaluations on team members setting SMART goals for the following year.
  • Recommending and assisting in managing capital projects.
  • Navigating in JD Edwards to be able to create, search, modify and sort work orders in our ERP.
  • Checking emails in Microsoft Outlook multiple times per shift, communicating with direct reports, site management and upper management as needed.
  • Apprising site management of work order status and when potential road blocks arise on critical path projects during shift crossover time.
  • Enforcing disciplinary procedures when necessary and recommending further action if needed.
  • Communicating shift production KPI's, equipment needing maintenance attention and any other critical and relevant information during shift crossover time.
You may be a good fit if you:

• Believe and practice safety as the number one priority.

• Hold an Associates degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Operations Management preferred. A technical degree in one of our dedicated work areas and/or sufficient work experience potentially could be a substitute.

• Demonstrate an upbeat attitude with contagious positive energy towards direct reports, teammates, vendors and customers Continually strive to increase shop efficiencies shop-wide

• Are familiar with rock crusher assembly and disassembly procedures.
• Are familiar with basic welding procedures.

• Are familiar in the machining industry.

• Are a self-motivated, strong work ethic individual that is willing to work with minimal supervision and at high level of accountability to operational requirements.

• Can use advanced computer skills with the ability to report and transfer information.

• Have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
