Description

SAIC is seeking a Spacecraft Parts Materials and Processes (PMP) Engineer to support the Space and Launch Division. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA. 


This position spans multiple spacecraft orbital regimes and technical disciplines. 


The follow tasks are representative of those that will be accomplished at the request of the Government Program Office (GPO) PMP lead representative:

 
  • Participate in development contractor mission assurance/quality assurance activities to include PM&P Control Board, subcontractor audits, Functional Configuration Audits (FCA) and Physical Configuration Audits (PCA), Corrective/ Preventive Action Boards, and Failure Review Boards
  • Provide expert technical knowledge across machining, electronic fabrication, chemical processing, inspection techniques, assembly and integration, destructive/non-destructive testing, production management, Quality Assurance (QA), and Parts, Material and Processes (PM&P)
  • Provide support to PM&P activities to include recommendations on the application of requirements for space qualified parts, materials and processes to programs
  • Review unit End Item Data Packages (EIDPs), identify deficiencies in the delivered data and close any unresolved findings per the developer prescribed process
  • Support the customer at weekly and monthly PMP activities including weekly telecons, all PMPCB meetings and program top issues meetings
  • Provide expert advice concerning PMPCB requests for government approval of waivers, deviations, non-standard parts and materials requests
  • Review and coordinate PMP actions with all members of the government technical team including Aerospace Corporation PMP representatives
  • Support unit manufacturing reviews from a PMP perspective, as needed
  • Review and coordinate changes to program PMP requirements including the program PMP plan for existing and follow on programs
  • Track PMP issues, significant accomplishments and upcoming events and provide weekly status updates to the customer
  • Coordinate with the Government PMP lead, other spacecraft subsystem leads, branch chiefs and division leads, as requested
  • Provide support to PMP anomaly investigations as required by the customer for both prime contractor and sub- contractor development and manufacturing
  • Provide technical evaluation of PMP efforts in contractor Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) 

Qualifications

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph 
  • Expertise with part specifications and standards for space rated parts and materials
  • An understanding of the requirements for the Quality Conformance Inspection (QCI) parts screening and experience evaluating QCI results
  • Prior experience participating at PMP control boards (PMPCB) including evaluating PMP requirement waivers.
