Responsibilities

This position will include responsibilities related to managing, coordinating, and executing all payroll and compliance activities for the Firm's domestic multi-state payrolls in partnership with third party vendors. This position will be responsible for implementing U.S. payroll systems and processes in a high growth company.

Develop and coach payroll team members

  • Select, orient, train, assign, schedule, and coach employees
  • Ensure payroll team members provide high quality customer service and support to firm employees
  • Communicate job expectations
  • Plan, monitor, and appraise job contributions
  • Contribute information for strategic plans and reviews
  • Implement production, productivity, quality and customer-service standards
Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing for domestic payroll processes
  • Lead and own the payroll strategy aligned with organization needs
    • Identify, create, and install process and systems to ensure consistent, compliant, and on-time delivery of all client payroll implementations, processing, and reviews.
    • Ensure accuracy and timeliness all client payrolls processed
    • Researches and resolves client payroll tax issues in a timely and efficient manner
  • Partner with a variety of internal departments (Tax, Accounting, and HR) to build scalable processes; provide input on business-related changes which have a direct impact on the payroll function
  • Continuously improve existing process to reduce processing times and costs while ensuring a high degree of accuracy and precision
  • Define service level agreements, establish key performance indicators, build metrics reporting capabilities and monitor adherence to these standards
  • Monitor compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Stay informed on existing and new legislation. Communicate to business partners as needed to ensure compliance
  • Oversee the implementation of client payroll processing systems and manage payroll processing vendor relationships
  • Partner effectively with HR, Tax, and Accounting to ensure appropriate flow of data and reporting
  • Assist with defining payroll's involvement with department projects and goals
Maintain and expand knowledge base in area of expertise
  • Comply with continuing education requirements; participate in professional organizations, independent study, etc.
  • Integrate new knowledge and skills into daily work and share with colleagues as appropriate
  • Maintain current knowledge of local, state and feral practices and laws

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) or more years of experience leading, coaching, and mentoring a team, especially through change
  • Proven ADP Workforce Now and RUN proficiencies
  • Demonstrated problem solving, organization, interpersonal, project management, and communication skills
  • Solid Microsoft Office Suite (Excel) skills
  • Ability to learn and utilize specialized software, per office/team requirements, such as UltiPro, STAR, etc.
  • Ability to provide exceptional client service, demonstrate commitment to continuous learning, display appropriate ethical knowledge and commitment, exhibit a sense of urgency and commitment to quality, and the timely completion of duties
  • Keen sense of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as ability to follow direction and procedures
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment with frequent interruptions
  • Participate as an effective Finance team member
  • Demonstrate excellent team skills, positive attitude and high ethical standards
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and participate in internal projects and operations
  • Work with leadership to identify and implement new processes and procedures, facilitating feedback and offering solutions
