Job Description
Manages and oversees overall fleet maintenance activities and shop operations at the at the least cost to meet AAR and Company requirements. This position requires a broad background in fleet maintenance procedures, line management experience and Shop Operation experience. In addition, this position must have an understanding of related administrative areas. Directs production operations at the Repair Shop Operations, reporting to the General Manager of RSO. Provides for safe operations in all areas of responsibility. Ensures cost effectiveness and consistency with prescribed quality, accuracy and performance standards. Maintains plant property and equipment in good condition to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and to ensure effective and economical operations. Prepares and submits operating reports to management to inform them of the current production status. Makes recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness at both locations. Assures effective customer service and completion of quality product. Selects, trains, develops and motivates manufacturing staff. Assures compliance of all plant operations and manufacturing with company policy and Federal, state and local regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and general public.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to communicate (talk, hear), remain stationary within work area (sit), and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee occasionally stands, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, reaches with hands and arms, and moves about (walk). The employee must frequently transport up to 10 pounds and occasionally transport up to 25 pounds. Correctable vision required for close, distance, or depth perception vision capabilities, and ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
Work environment includes working near moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes or airborne particles, and exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work environment can be loud. Areas can have high volume of railroad traffic and require being ambulatory and correctable hearing and visual capabilities which includes close, distant, color, peripheral, depth perception vision and the ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
SALARY RANGE:
$141,000 - $185,000 per year.
