About the role:

Who You Are:

You are a professional who understands enterprise strategy, planning, business expectations and has been accountable for delivering business capabilities. You have a good understanding of technology operating model inclusive of contemporary and traditional technology delivery models, sourcing, and tooling. You understand positional authority but are capable of leading by influence. You understand leadership and strategy required to modernize delivery methods, include Agile. You can envision success and take ownership of maturing our delivery capability.

Furthermore, you understand execution excellence and can apply levers for delivery velocity against portfolio plans. You are a leader who will create a unified program & project delivery approach through strategic portfolio management levers and ensure outcomes to deliver expected business benefits.

You will ensure that technology is delivering against critical initiatives, some of which have Board level and Executive visibility. Ultimately, you will drive portfolio planning (readiness), approvals and execution, in partnership with stakeholders throughout Everest and across all levels. You will partner and often drive delivery progress and apply problem solving skills with PMO leadership within IT, business and Group.

Ultimately, you will triangulate Everest vision with IT' strategic objectives and Project Portfolio Planning and Management.

What You'll Do

You are responsible for executing against IT' strategic roadmap particularly in terms of planning and execution of investment portfolio. The capital portfolio is growing rapidly, and it will be paramount to establish best practices such that delivery becomes a competitive advantage for the organization. You will help establish and apply PMO standards and best practices to streamline project and program execution. You will be developing a consistent, transparent, and predictive delivery discipline through operational oversight & portfolio reviews. This unique role requires forethought, extreme coordination across all IT and often business leaders, rigorous insight into delivery progress and challenges.

Some of the key components of the role are:

  • Strategy and Governance, inclusive of executive level Investment Management Committee, divisional and program-level Steering Committees
  • Conducting multi-year and annual planning/budgeting against 5-year strategic roadmap and increasing business alignment to achieve enterprise objectives
  • Partner with SLT, Business and Group leadership to institute centralized and disciplined Governance structure and approach at the Program, line-of-business and Enterprise levels coupled with quality and consistency of communications
  • Establishing and improving portfolio structure and sharable portfolio management practices, in concert with functional PMO leaders, such as:
    • Resource/Capacity Management - Identify, prioritize, and coordinate resources within and across portfolios to maximize utilization
    • Demand Management - Institutionalize demand capture, prioritization and approval through line-of-business Governance and readiness processes
    • IT Balanced Scorecard - Data to steer IT and gauge progress against objectives
  • Financial Management - Ensure that EST achieves financial objectives in partnership with Finance and Senior Leadership Team (SLT). This requires timely and accurate monthly forecasting, variance analysis and portfolio adjustments.
  • Ensuring timely planning and increasing execution predictability of the portfolio through:
    • Execution monitoring through operating reviews, audits
    • Portfolio analyses to track velocity against planned efforts
    • Proactive mitigation of annual & monthly financial variances
    • Planning and coordination of cross-portfolio interdependencies
    • Risk monitoring and mitigation at the portfolio level
    • Coaching and intervention to course-correct delivery
  • Develop strategic initiative program management capability for large, complex, enterprise-wide initiatives
  • Create a PMO Community-of-Practice that establishes practice consistency, defines career paths and enables uplifting of PMO competency
  • Innovate and integrate contemporary delivery practices such as Agile DevOps in line with the strategic roadmap
  • Integrating and developing tooling to generate predictive and diagnostic portfolio metrics
  • Contribute to benefit tracking and realization in partnership with Group and Business PMOs
  • Aligning with the Transformation Office on IT' progress against strategic objectives
A critical success factor for this role will be the ability to institutionalize consistent and disciplined delivery blueprint, governance structure and communications. This role will heavily partner with IT Senior Leadership Team, IT PMO and Delivery leaders, Group PMO, Business PMO leaders and Transformation Office to progress on transformation objectives.

Under this function, IT will also execute operational excellence initiatives targeted to improve IT services and evolve to our target operating model.

IT is also striving to manage cross functional, global programs across our businesses while helping to streamline and enhance our current Portfolio, Program and Project Management practices. To that end, as a thought leader, you will help improve portfolio planning process, operational reporting, and metrics for multiple Governance forums across multiple businesses and rolling up to the C-Suite.

Finally, you will partner with SP&E peers and IT application portfolio leaders in enhancing the "running of IT business" across functions such as Vendor Management and Procurement, Financial Management, Talent/Workforce Management. You will assist in establishing and managing to IT performance benchmarks ultimately helping IT innovate and differentiate Everest through technology capabilities.

What you'll need
  • 5-10 years of project/ program management experience in the insurance industry
  • Insurance domain subject matter acumen, preferably in multiple areas of the business
