About the Internship Program:

The internship program at MAPMG is a paid 12-week (or longer) program taking place year-round that is designed to expose undergraduate and graduate students to a wide range of career opportunities in the healthcare field with valuable professional skills that can be transferred to any occupation or industry. The internship program provides undergraduate and graduate students with an interest in health care systems, data analysis, consulting, project management, and strategic planning the opportunity to work on challenging projects in a professional environment.

Students selected for internships gain on-the-job training that integrates education and career development. They will work directly with a mentor, who will provide supervision and mentoring. Together, the intern and mentor will develop an internship plan identifying specific projects or assignments to ensure a meaningful learning experience.

Overview:

MAPMG is seeking a Data Analyst intern to assist in making strategic data-driven decisions by analyzing, manipulating, summarizing, and reporting findings regarding internal programs and effects on employees and stakeholders. This may entail working with our data systems to pull information using SQL or Python, compiling historical data from multiple sources and formats, analyzing the information in Excel or Tableau, and presenting the data to various internal stakeholders. Develops analytical infrastructure such as database tables and views, ETL programs, and Tableau reports.

This internship will be based in Rockville, MD with the expectation to go into the office on an as-needed basis. Candidates must be local or willing to re-locate to the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area for the duration of the internship.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for programs, ETLs, and manipulation/ analysis of data as needed
  • Performs complex analysis using SQL, SAS, Python, Excel, and Tableau
  • Acts as an advisor or thought partner by structuring undefined issues for resolution, summarizes information, and works with relevant stakeholders to remediate, resulting in sound and timely decisions
  • Responds to requests for detailed data to support report findings
  • Develops and maintains strong business relationships with internal business partners, including all levels of management, senior leaders, medical office controllers, and other data users
  • Becomes a knowledge expert of departmental operational data that can assist other stakeholders with data requests and interpreting results
  • Delivers high quality results on time

Qualifications:
  • Must be a college student working towards a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Data Analytics during the duration of the internship. Recent college graduates are ineligible
  • Computer Science, Information Systems, Marketing Analytics, and Business Analytics major are highly encouraged to apply
  • Strong analytical, organizational, detail-orientated and communication skills required
  • Ability to clearly summarize and express complex analytical and technical information to a non-technical audience
  • Experience with translating stakeholder needs into accurate and robust reports
  • Highly proficient with SQL (required), and Tableau (required). Preferred experience with SAS and Python
  • Working knowledge of the design, construction, and use of complex relational databases (required)
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, Share Point)
