Research Technician - Department of Plant Sciences (UTIA)
A Research Technician position is available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. C. Neal Stewart within the Department of Plant Sciences. This position is grant funded and will support various projects. Position is responsible for conducting research experiments under the supervision of the principal investigator in the field, greenhouse, and lab. Field responsibilities include general crop management, operation of farm machinery, field-level data collection, and regular scouting of on-station and on-farm trials. The candidate should have basic knowledge of lab practices as well as some experience working with transgenic plants. This position monitors and cares for regulated and non-regulated plants located within multiple UTIA Research and Education Centers and in on-site greenhouses. Additional responsibilities include collecting, recording, and compiling research data. Position also assists with compiling project reports. All work will be done under direct supervision. Position will perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Experience
Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree, Valid Driver's License and have the ability to lift heavy objects.
Preferred Education/Experience
Preferred applicants will have some field and/or laboratory experience with greenhouse and farm plants.
This position is available immediately, continued employment is based on performance and continued grant funding. Salary is based on experience and qualifications according to UT policy.
