In addition to fulfilling job requirements of R&D Laboratory Technician listed below, the Senior Lab Technician will have skills, knowledge and experience working with a majority of R&D tests and test equipment. This knowledge will be exhibited through the ability and willingness to share and teach/train others as well as high levels of demonstrated efficiency and accuracy. The Senior Lab Technician will also have at least one area of higher-level specialization. The Senior Lab Technician will have demonstrated and continue to demonstrate ability to initiate new testing methods and procedures for existing or new products or processes. The Senior Lab Technician will have demonstrated positively leading others by example, has a "can do" attitude, volunteers regularly without prompting, spends time mentoring, & applies leadership skills in the Laboratory Team environment. This position will report to the R&D Lab Manager.

Primary Function:

The R&D laboratory technician will perform laboratory testing duties required to support Research and Development's support of manufacturing operations, formulation, product development/innovation, environmental social governance efforts and material testing. The technician will perform laboratory testing and possibly assist in plant trials to support projects assigned. The technician will work with electronic and mechanical equipment during performance of these duties. This includes tasks such as thermoplastics heat welding, two roll mill mixing and operating internal mixers and adhesive mixers. Once training has been conducted on test methods or equipment the technician is expected to work independently on testing projects and products with minimal supervision by the scientist or engineer who requested the work. The technician is expected to work in a flexible, team environment during performance of these duties.

* Troubleshooting test equipment
* Calibration verifications & routine care of equipment
* Improving method accuracy
* Developing new tests
* Data Entry and Management

Membrane and Adhesive processing technology

* ASTM test methods and SOP procedures

* All lab safety equipment and procedures.

Educational Requirements:

Education-High school diploma or GED

Experience

* 10+ years of experience working a lab environment.
* Familiar with lab equipment and/or equipment listed above.
* Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to work well within a team and as a self-led individual contributor.
* Strong leadership skills, presents a positive attitude & leads by example.
* Strong organizational, communication and computer skills.
* Strong attention to detail and adherence to strict processing procedures.
* Consistently provides a high level of accuracy.
* Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivated & a good work ethic.
* Demonstrates the ability to continuously learn.
