Software/Application Security Engineer

Interview Steps: 1 phone and then 1 teams interview

Will be working on ticketing site to identify where they are having issues with possible hackers. Will need to target this problem, identify other areas of vulnerability, pen testing, and documenting.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Application Security Engineer to contract with our team. This will be a specialized role that will engage with us to penetrate the system for exploits. The engineer will work the team to strategize the penetration strategy and be able to execute on the approach.

Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in application security, with a focus on web-based applications.
- Strong understanding of security protocols, cryptography, authentication, authorization, and security vulnerabilities.
- Proficient in penetration testing tools and techniques, and experience with security testing frameworks.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, PHP, JavaScript, and frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
- Experience with application security standards and frameworks such as OWASP, SANS, etc.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey security concepts and risks to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP).
- Experience with cloud security and technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and tools.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive security assessments, vulnerability assessments, and penetration tests on web-based applications to identify weaknesses and potential exploits.
- Collaborate with the development team to document potential exploit strategies.
- Develop and implement security best practices, guidelines, and security standards for web-based applications.
- Stay abreast of the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and trends to ensure our applications are protected against emerging threats.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of security findings, recommendations, and actions taken to resolve security issues.
- Participate in the design and architecture of new applications to ensure security is considered from the ground up.
- Provide security training and awareness to the development team and other stakeholders within the organization.
