From mixed reality and human interaction to natural inputs and beyond, XR Tech is focused on taking new technologies from early concept to the product level while iterating, prototyping, and realizing the human value and new experiences they open up.As a Software Engineering Manager within Kit, you will lead a team focused on bringing our technology, to enable the realistic representation of your digital twin, to life across Meta's App and XR devices. As a hands-on leader, you'll help the team fulfill technical, operational, and business requirements. You will guide teams to build a long term durable architecture to enable delivery of scalable software products. The ideal candidate will solve complex technical challenges while delivering great consumer products focused on developer enablement and inspiration to build incredible experiences.
Software Engineering Manager, Kit, XR Tech Responsibilities:
- Leading a team of generalists and systems specialists to productize and realize our digital humans roadmap.
- Engaging cross-functionally with other teams and product stakeholders to execute said roadmap.
- Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing quality metrics and processes to drive better user experience.
- Establish a solid project framework and excellent development processes.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to both your team members and your project peers.
- Recruit world-class talent and provide technical leadership and guidance to both your team members and your project peers.
- Set clear expectations and create a positive work environment based on accountability, in collaboration with the engineering and management teams.
- Operate strategically and tactically, working closely with various organizations to define and execute the long-term strategies and roadmaps and help set direction while staying on top of the day to day software development.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS/MS in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Experience supporting an engineering organization through technical leadership
- Effective communication skills
- 2+ years of engineering management experience
- Experience in managing teams developing consumer facing software products or developer tools
- Experience managing cross-functional engineering teams
- Demonstrate to thrive in a dynamic environment where goals and requirements may be changing
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading teams shipping on mobile devices, Android development or involvement in the hardware development life cycle of a consumer facing product
- Experience managing joint hardware-software development and associated rapid prototyping projects
- Experience in leading teams interfacing with HW (sensors, silicon) teams in setting requirements and product tradeoffs
- Experience defining and owning performance and quality targets for an E2E product
