Sr. Behavioral Health Clinician - GME Office

The Graduate Medical Education (GME) Office is seeking a Sr. Behavioral Health Clinician to provide confidential counseling services to University of Iowa resident and fellow physicians. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the ideal applicant will have program development skills that would aid in the creation of educational initiatives in the well-being arena. The position will be an integral part of the Resident and Fellow Physician Well-Being Collaborative providing leadership, education and creative collaboration to residency and fellowship programs.

Provision of Clinical Services and Programs:

• Provide confidential counseling services to resident and fellow physicians. Take history, make assessment and diagnosis, plan and perform therapeutic intervention.
• Perform outcomes evaluations to determine progress
• Ensure the patients' rights and privacy are protected
• Coordinate clinical services and programs
• Provide crisis intervention assistance
• Seek clinical consultation as needed
• Make referrals as necessary
• Maintain effective and collaborative working relationships resident and fellow physicians and GME program leaders
• Identify barriers to care and work to improve processes and support systems for the well-being of our resident and fellow physicians

Education/Training:

• Develop and deliver educational programming to GME residency and fellowship programs.
• Provide leadership for organizational behavioral health programming to key partners campus-wide
• Propose and develop behavioral health initiatives

Consultation:

• Gather data to support Well-Being programming
• Work with the Resident and Fellow Physician Well-Being Collaborative to continually improve programs and systems supporting our resident and fellow physicians and identify new opportunities

Required Qualifications:

• Master's degree and licensure in a relevant counseling field, e.g. Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT), Social Work (LISW), etc.
• A minimum of 3 years counseling experience
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of staff at all levels of the organization
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Desired Qualifications:

• Clinical behavioral health care provision with children/teens and families as well as familiarity with substance misuse treatment practices; typically demonstrated by 1-3 years of experience
• Training and experience in individual and group assessment instruments, crisis intervention, psychological first aid, and critical incident stress debrief
• Familiarity with Graduate Medical Education &/or experience providing behavioral health services within a Graduate Medical Education environment
