Sr. Director, Data Reporting & Analytics (Hybrid)

Reporting directly to the SVP Data & Analytics, this role is responsible for delivering cross-functional reporting utilizing data analytics platforms that create strategic and transformational value for our clients, members, and Globe's core business units with next gen data technologies. The Director must be highly experienced with business processes, ROI and business case development, data visualization design, IT data architecture, AI methodologies across multiple cloud technologies and integrations of necessary risk controls. As head of data reporting & analytics, the role is critical in crafting & leading data analytics strategy, target state, quick wins and deliver roadmaps to optimize project(s) value streams. The leader will guide Globe Life to enable rapid expansion of data self-service capabilities (training, discovery, collaboration, partnership, and ecosystems) across the organization. The leader will proactively seek out and sponsors process and technology improvements, reporting efficiencies, and partners with other IT & data teams to deliver new business value-added capabilities. Additionally, the role will advise Data Architecture and Engineering leaders on making strategic investments in applications, databases, technologies, systems, programs, or processes.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the Data & Analytics vision for a portfolio and build strategy to transform
  • Create a data-centric organizational environment that allows for empowerment of data across citizen data users and visualization creators within the organization
  • Work closely with Data Engineering by providing business requirements, data analysis and analytics direction
  • Build strong partnership with business product line leaders to transform and grow Globe's analytical capabilities, enable self-service and develop new insights
  • Harness prior experience in data visualization and relevant methodologies to spearhead innovation in this area to help bridge the gap between data and decision analytics
  • Package and present recommendations to the executive leadership team through a combination of qualitative and quantitative feedback
  • Provide regular, automated, reporting assets that enable effective storytelling and power self-service decision making across the organization
  • Champion an inclusive and diverse analytics mindset in order to attract a deep and diverse talent pool within the organization that includes effective coaching and development
  • Define the strategy for the analytics capabilities including, but not limited to, the business architecture, processes, sub-capabilities required and target state
  • Socialize and build awareness of analytical capabilities across the organization
  • Hybrid Schedule (WFH/Remote - Monday and Friday) & (In Office - Tuesday thru Thursday)

Required Skills
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of ML and GenAI, and ability to integrate into analytics
  • Deep understanding of data, business intelligence, and decision analytics, including full life-cycle development
  • Experience with agile development tools, including Jira.
  • Ability to be hand-on, but also be a player-coach.
  • Strong analytical and prioritization skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate across multiple levels within the organization
  • Financial service acumen & or experience to lead large cross functional initiatives and work with matric teams
  • Ability to accurately determine length and difficulty of tasks and projects
  • Ability to work seamlessly with remote teams
  • Delivery of high-quality strategic large-scale projects.
  • Self-directed, effective at prioritizing tasks, managing time, organizing people and getting things done.
  • Exceptional influencing skills with sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate a compelling vision and inspire others to deliver on an ambitious, complex, global roadmap.
  • Deep knowledge of probability distributions
  • Deep statistical foundation and knowledge of statistical learning theory
  • Mastery in data transformation methodologies including SQL, scripting Python
  • Experience with common machine learning methods for descriptive and predictive applications
  • Having excellent hands-on skills with NetCore 4.5+, D3/C3 Charting, Angular, JavaScript and related libraries / frameworks
  • Willingness to travel, as needed

Required Knowledge & Experience
EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a quantitative discipline
  • At least 10 years of experience building and maintaining BI applications and reporting management processes.
  • At least 5 years of Tableau, combination of network configuration, administration, and creator experience preferred, but not required
  • Experience developing complex statistical modeling for clinical program evaluation, and estimating impacts of various programs, interventions, and strategies on key clinical and business outcomes
  • Building applications on a cloud-native micro-services architecture.
  • Adept with agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles, with special exposure to JIRA, GitLab and Jenkins.
  • Familiar with large scale architecture design
  • Hybrid Schedule (WFH/Remote - Monday and Friday) & (In Office - Tuesday thru Thursday)
