The Frederick, MD location is a critical part of Thermo Fisher's organization, providing support for up to 5 Business Groups and multiple Divisions, from distribution, to Life Sciences and Corporate support. Shift Information

First Shift - Monday through Friday 6am-2:30 PM (Overtime may be needed depending on business needs)

Discover Impactful Work:

As a Senior Technician at our manufacturing plant in Frederick, MD you will play a vital role in the success of our Genetic Sciences Division (GSD) and Biosciences Division (BID). With a focus on quality and attention to detail, you will be responsible for conducting filling, packaging, troubleshooting, and maintaining advanced laboratory instruments and equipment. Your expertise will directly supply to the production of high-quality products, ensuring that our customers receive reliable and accurate results. A day in the Life:

  • Operate an assortment of semi-automated and manual filling and packaging equipment, including pipettors.
  • Maintain a focused environment and implement departmental and company policies.
  • Operate a variety of industrial equipment including, filling pumps, auto-labelers, autoclaves and labware washers.
  • Accurate completion of required manufacturing documentation under ISO13485 guidelines.
  • Assist department by staging raw materials; cleaning laboratory hardware; offloading automated filling lines.
  • Meets production, quality, EHS and PPI goals and objectives.
  • Perform all work activities in a safe manner. Maintain a safe and clutter free work area and report property damage and /or safety hazards to the Supervisor, Human Resources, Safety Specialist or Senior Management immediately.
Keys to Success:

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

• 2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment, experience in biotech or chemical manufacturing preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Good verbal and written communication skills.

• Basic knowledge of the metric system.

• Ability to follow standard operating procedures and cGMP's.

• Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and lead through processes/projects.

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

• Familiarity with data entry tools, such as Microsoft Word & Excel.

• Previous experience with SAP and other business software a plus.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 to 50 pounds.

• Ability to wear personal protective equipment when required.
