Organization
The Student-Athlete Experience Coordinator will provide program management and coordination concerning social engagement and civic responsibility initiatives for student-athletes along with collaborating with the community organizations, local government and institution and athletic department community relations office as it relates to community and civic engagement efforts. The coordinator will also be responsible for overseeing the leadership development for all student-athletes and assist in providing professional development with coaches and staff. The Student-Athlete Experience Coordinator is to serve as a liaison between student-athletes, campus resources, athletic academic center, athletics compliance department, and sport programs. Additionally, the Student-Athlete Experience Coordinator would provide support, guidance, and mentorship to assigned teams and student-athletes subgroups. This person will provide program management and coordination concerning social and civic responsibility initiatives for student-athletes along with collaborating with the institution and athletic department community relations office as it relates to community engagement efforts. Essential Functions: 

  • Serve as an athletics liaison to campus committees and working groups
  • Assists the Assistant AD with coordination of student-athlete engagement events with both university and outside organizations
  • Assist with Student-Athlete Orientation and Summer Bridge Program
  • Assists with managing the day-to-day operations of the student-athlete development office 
  • Distributes event information to assigned student-athletes, coaches, and support staff via social media and Teamworks
  • Assist with execution of OU Athletics Passport to Your Future networking event and collaborate with Varsity O and the Championship Connection Events
  • Oversee all leadership development programming and events for student-athletes
  • Coordinate Leadership Institute monthly meetings
  • Serve as lead for social engagement and civic responsibility efforts for student-athletes and teams
  • Establish and maintain relationships with campus and community partners
  • Pursue, promote, and secure social engagement opportunities for student-athletes and teams
  • Serve in the role as mentor to the student-athletes to improve their self-efficacy
  • This person will also assist in managing student workers and graduate assistants
  • Plans and oversees special student-athlete centered projects
  • Ensures all projects are aligned with university and athletics compliance departmental guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Experience, Well-Being, Conduct & Accountability


Job Location

Required Education: Bachelor Degree, AND:

  • 12 months in student programming, student services, or closely related experience.

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 60 months experience.

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty and staff
  • Strong initiative to solve problems
  • Outstanding skills in written, oral and interpersonal communication
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple tasks and projects

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to communicate, push, pull and engage in repetitive motions.

Departmental Preferences:

  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Experience working with Leadership Development programming, Civic Engagement and student-athlete programming and events
  • Former student-athlete or worked closely with collegiate student-athletes
  • Student affairs experience or education/job related experience in this area
  • Experience with mentoring programs
