Position Summary
Working independently and collaboratively, as appropriate, with other members of Dominican's Center for Community Engagement staff, this position provides focused management of community-engaged student programming. The Manager is responsible for developing and implementing programming and recruitment strategies to support student engagement on and off campus and working with student cohorts such as the EDJE leaders, Community Action & Social Change, Latin American & Latino Studies minors and Social Justice Majors. Management includes working with other units and modes of community engagement (i.e. internships, leadership practicums, fieldwork, honors program, student clubs, athletics) to centralize data, partnerships, and student experience on GivePulse. Additionally, this role includes documentation, communications and marketing of programming. The Student Engagement Manager will also support student, staff, and faculty-driven community-engagement initiatives as appropriate.


Essential duties and responsibilities include:

Develop and implement student outreach and recruitment strategies for community-engaged programming.

Work with other units to implement GivePulse to increase centralization of community engagement efforts and partnerships. Monitor and update GivePulse regularly.

Create infrastructure and organization processes for student programming that includes centralization of relevant data, information, and resources (i.e. templates to plan events, student videos, FAQ, applications for EDJE) and shared communication.

Support student cohorts in programming such as SL orientations, recruitment events and materials, co-curricular opportunities such as interpreting for parent/teacher conferences at San Rafael City Schools and other community engagement opportunities

Create and oversee outreach efforts and materials on social media and in-person events (classroom visits, tabling etc.)

Documenting and assessment of programming. Regular progress reports to Center staff and other relevant units.

Required Qualifications:

Masters degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

3-5 years’ relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Good computer and tech skills (including video editing) and ability to work on external platform (GivePulse)

Community-minded and student-centered approach.

Respect for local community knowledge and wisdom, and interest in maintaining respectful and mutually beneficial partnerships on behalf of the university

Ability and strong desire to work collaboratively

Creativity, flexibility, and attention to detail; ability to hold big picture while being detail oriented

Superior communications and organizations skills

Technology Proficiency: Microsoft Office Suite, Google suite; training will be provided for GivePulse

Interest and ability to support and promote a diverse and inclusive campus community

Ability to work evening and weekend events,

Preferred Qualifications:

Three or more years experience in higher education community engagement or related field

Knowledge and experience in effective community engagement practices

Knowledge and experience in student and community partner development

Knowledge of local community context and issues, and investment in equity for historically marginalized people and communities

Experience in grant implementation, assessment, and reporting

Proficiency with Zoom, Moodle, Slack, GivePulse and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube)
