Job Description:


POSITION: Full-Time System Administrator: Staff Associate; IT Network Operations; Haverhill Campus; 37.5 hours per week, Weekend and afterhours work may be required; Non-Unit Professional Position


SUMMARY: NECC is seeking a talented Systems Administrator (SA) who possess excellent interpersonal skills and able to work as part of a team; will be self-motivated and proactive; will provide excellent customer service, technical support, and will become an integral member of a large team of personnel who provide technology services to the college and community.


The SA will be responsible for server infrastructure, both physical, virtual and cloud environments. The SA will install and maintain systems and services hosted within the corporate infrastructure as well as the cloud hosted solutions, including Microsoft AD and Azure AD configuration. This position requires the ability to utilize systems analysis techniques to resolve issues and to design solutions for the business systems or infrastructure. In addition, the SA makes recommendations for new products, technologies, and services to enhance user productivity, network and system performance, as well as, security. It is critical that SA is willing to cross-train and empower other technical staff.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Implement and manage server environments. Services include Active Directory, Azure AD, DNS, DHCP, DFS, NAP, WDS, WSUS, Exchange, File and Print Management.
  • Manage Microsoft 365 & Azure for Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and SSO with third party products.
  • Manage VMware and Hyper-V virtual environment, as well as physical server infrastructure.
  • Manage and configure backups for systems utilizing Veeam/CommVault.
  • Participate in and maintain Disaster Recovery scenarios, policy and practices.
  • Knowledge of Linux command line, SQL and Oracle databases, PowerShell scripting, group policy administration.
  • Configure and maintain SANs, backups and disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Respond to tickets by contacting customers, gaining knowledge of the problem, and working with customer to resolve.
  • Ability to automate common tasks.
  • Detailed documentation will be required throughout the lifecycle of a process or ticket, as well as ownership and responsibility for seeing it through to completion.
  • Ability to plan and schedule system upgrades and improvements, as well as investigation of new technology solutions.
  • Provide training as needed to team members as well as other staff.
  • Working onsite for server/network setups/repairs.
  • Completing certifications and training to advance knowledge and skillset.
  • Ability to lift/carry servers and other equipment
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Applicants must have at least (A) four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in system, of which (B) at least two years must have been in work in which the major duties included management of Azure AD and other cloud software, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

Substitutions:


  • An Associate's degree with a major in the field of data processing or computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one (1) year of the required experience*
  • A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in the field of data processing or computer and/or information science may be substituted for the required experience*
  • A diploma for completion of a two (2) year full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized
  • non-degree granting business or vocational/technical school above the high school level with a major in the field of computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience*
  • An official transcript from a recognized business or vocational/ technical school as evidence of completion of a program consisting of at least 650 hours of instruction in the field of computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience

* Education toward such a degree or diploma will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Two (2) years of experience working with Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Exchange and VMware administration
  • Experienced in VMware, Azure, Commvault or similar Backup Software, Exchange management
  • Experience with scripting PowerShell, VBScript and other scripting languages
  • Experience configuring and maintaining Email filtering, SANs, backups and DR
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Experience with SQL and Oracle databases
  • Project management experience.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population

Additional Information:


SALARY: Anticipated starting salary range is $75,000 - $90,000 annually with complete fringe benefit package including competitive health insurance, dental insurance, basic life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid sick, vacation and personal leave, educational benefits for employee/spouse/dependents, and excellent retirement benefits.
