System Support Specialist - AITS (Hybrid/Remote)

Job Summary
The Systems Support Specialist works within a team environment to maintain, optimize, and provide user and technical support for University System Office systems. Perform technical project coordination and analysis for IT projects related to support and enhancement of University System Office systems.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide functional and technical support to university staff and users of University System Office systems.
  • Collaborate with System Office units, university organizations and AITS departments to facilitate the on-boarding and continual support of vended systems and services.
  • Serve as a primary contact point for units as they look to AITS for assistance in implementing vended solutions.
  • Help develop and implement cross-organizational processes and methodologies within AITS that encompass the lifecycle of support for vended systems brought to AITS for support.
  • Work directly with administrators, analysts, developers, end users, and University System Office staff to identify and engage needed resources and services needed to implement systems and troubleshoot problems.
  • Work in a team environment on projects to upgrade and implement changes to University System Office systems.
  • Responsibilities on projects will be to understand functional and technical requirements through interactions with customers and vendors, and provide support to clients for implementing solutions that leverage university services and follow university standards and protocols.
  • Communicate with clients regarding tasks, schedules, and issues as well as educating clients about AITS services and other technical resources that may be available to them within the various universities and systems.
  • Develop a strong working knowledge and serve as a subject matter expert for the functionality of University System Office systems as well as business processes and practices. Knowledge will be gained through close collaboration with University System Office units and external entities.
  • Support production critical activities during non-business hours, as needed. This may require evening or weekend hours, depending on the business cycle of the University.
  • Comply with University and department standards for time reporting including time tracking in TDX, Vacation and Sick Leave (VSL), and Positive Time Reporting (PTR).
  • Comply with AITS and University security standards and practices.
  • Comply with AITS application migration and deployment standards and practices.
  • Perform related duties as assigned appropriate foraSystems Support Specialist.
Minimum Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Any one or any combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the following categories: A. College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months) • Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months) • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months) • Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months) B. Work experience in IT-related functions, such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field. 3. Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Three years of progressively more responsible work experience in an Information Technology (IT)related profession. College course work which included Information Technology (IT), IT Management, or a closely related discipline may be substituted as follows: 60 semester hours or-Associate's Degreeequals one (1) year, 90-120 semester hours or Bachelor's Degree equals two (2)years.
2. Experience in supporting enterprise class systems.
3. Experience with IT projects and the various phases of project and software implementation.
4. Experience with SaaS, ERP, and CRM systems.
5. Experience in developing web basedapplications.
6. Experience working with relational databases using SQL.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. Skilled in using tools such as Microsoft 365, Teams, Visio, Project, and Zoom.

2. Outstanding interpersonal skills, working with diverse groups of individuals and building partnerships.

3. Strong communication skills, verbal and written.

4. Ability to work independently, to be a team leader, and to work as a team member.

5. Demonstrated analytical andproblem-solvingskills with attention to detail and accuracy.

6. Strong technical skills to make recommendations on strategy and approach for improving functionality of systems in support of the University's vision and strategic plan.

7. Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and to work with shifting priorities and schedules.

8. Knowledge of Azure and AWS environments.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5031 - Information Technology Technical Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 5/27/2024. Starting salary is $75,000. Salary is commensurate with experience.
