Overview

The Talent Development Specialist is responsible for designing, delivering, and supporting collaborative and engaging participant-centered learning solutions to improve employee performance and impact change efforts. This role partners with senior leaders, stakeholders, and SMEs to assess, identify, and prioritize current and future employee capability needs. The Talent Development Specialist then addresses knowledge and skills gaps through training and education (structured courses and programs); coaching and networking (learning and developing through others); and on-the-job (learning and developing through experience). This role also develops training plans outlining scope, risks, dependencies, critical needs, and proposed learning solutions using results-based analysis, instructional design models, and adult learning practices.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders and SMEs to assess, identify, and prioritize training and development to ensure learning solutions are aligned to business goals and performance needs
  • Design and develop learning solutions that include measurable objectives, leader and participant materials, experiential learning activities, simulated assessments, and leveled evaluation methods
  • Manage preparation of training materials, resources, and course content from conception through production stages
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver in-person and virtual instructor-led training to new hires and existing employees on role-specific processes, procedures, and soft skills
  • Facilitate training by encouraging participation, building learner motivation, establishing credibility as an instructor, delivering constructive feedback, creating a positive learning climate, and ensuring learning outcomes
  • Monitors the effectiveness of training on employees using individual or group performance results
  • Participate and engage in training and development opportunities to maintain and enhance role relevant knowledge, skills, and experience
  • Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, HR, Talent Development or related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in training
  • Familiarity with talent development theories, processes, and models
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat products
  • Ability to facilitate engaging training and presentations
  • Ability to design, develop, implement, and evaluate learning solutions
  • Strong organizational awareness, project management, and written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy, and to exercise sound judgment, logic and, initiative while maintaining employee confidentiality
  • Ability to work effectively on-site in our Herndon, VA headquarters and equally effectively remotely
  • Ability to work Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
Preferred
  • Previous Credit Union/Finance Institution experience, specifically with consumer and indirect lending regulations and processes
  • Experience in instructional design methods, adult learning theories, training assessment and evaluation, training delivery and facilitation, web-based/virtual training
  • Experience with tools such as Articulate, Camtasia, Visme, and Vyond
