As a Technical Marketing Consultant in the Construction Industries Services Division (CISD) for Caterpillar, you will have responsibility for creating core content to support Parts and Services for Cat machines, including online customer experiences. This requires knowledge of Cat machines and aftermarket parts and services, as well as customers and their purchase criteria and behaviors. The Technical Marketing Consultant will develop and publish content in existing and new digital channels. This position develops and executes content that:

1. Effectively communicates the product value proposition and differentiation in the market
2. Creates positive customer experiences across channels
3. Provides global sales support for dealer and field teams
4. Supports Services go-to-market commercial strategies
5. Ensures New Services Development (NSD) marketing readiness is achieved

What You'll Do:

  • Serve as Core Content Workstream Lead on Go To Market (GTM) team - partnering with other workstreams to develop a GTM strategy including target markets, product rollout and marketing strategy.
  • Develop key GTM product messaging, ensuring alignment and consistency of message across other GTM workstreams.
  • Work collaboratively with Component Application Specialists, Construction Industries (CI) Lifecycle Managers, Machine Business Divisions (MBDs) and Digital, Sales, and regional Marketing teams across Caterpillar to ensure consistency and alignment
  • Develop global core content plans (deliverables, languages, due dates) according to our content strategy.
  • Develop, write and deliver educational product content and materials to communicate technical product features and capabilities in a variety of content types (Unique Selling Propositions, product webpages, brochures, videos, etc.), and ensure it is optimized for organic search.
  • Work with enterprise process owners and company vendors to execute and publish content - includes project management and working in internal systems for production and publication processes, such as content and asset management databases, translations agencies, etc.
  • Coordinate video and photography shoots and creation of product imagery.
  • Develop and managing budgets to support product launches and updates.
  • Ensure all product marketing materials are updated and accurate.
Skills You Have:
  • Customer Focus: Anticipate and exceed customer needs in marketing materials.
  • Technical Writing: Knowledge of technical writing processes, considerations and applications; ability to write materials for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Vendor/Supplier Management: Knowledge of external provider management processes and ability to effectively manage the business relationship with external providers.
  • Value Selling: Uses 'value selling' techniques in marketing materials to successfully engage customers.
  • Effective Communications: ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Relationship Management: ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
  • Knowledge of Cat equipment, parts, services, dealers, and customers
  • Experience writing customer-facing content on technical product features and capabilities for online and offline channels
  • Aptitude to work with technical data such as product specifications and effectively translate into customer speak
  • Ability to work with various software types and systems, such as content and asset management systems (Adobe Experience Manager), project management systems (WorkFront), as well as Microsoft (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Relevant product and application knowledge or aptitude to quickly gain product and application knowledge to effectively identify customer pain points and product features meeting those needs
  • Ability to work independently - to implement, execute, and meet deadlines
  • Experience leading go-to-market activities
  • Strong collaborator, ability to influence and align teams
  • Ability to manage projects across several vendors efficiently, on time, and on budget

  • Relocation is available with this position to Peoria, IL only
  • Travel up to 15%
