Role Description
POSITION SUMMARY
One of the top strategic priorities of Zoetis is to power our business through digital solutions and data insights. Strong data governance is imperative in order to optimize the value created from our digital and data assets. As such, Zoetis is establishing a Data Governance program to improve the quality and consistency of our data, increase efficiency and productivity of our colleagues, and reduce complexity and improve accountability to speed issue resolution.
US Operations is establishing a program to manage data governance within the US Commercial Organization while aligning with the objectives and approach of the Global Data Governance program. The US Data Governance Lead is a leadership position that is responsible to oversee and guide the overall strategy and implementation of data governance initiatives within US Operations .The person will play a critical role in developing and implementing data governance strategies, policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance for key data assets that are part of the commercial processes.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Governance Strategy, Stakeholder Management, Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive commercial data governance strategy aligned with the organization's goals and objectives. Define the vision, mission, and roadmap for data governance program. Define roles, responsibilities, and accountability for data-related activities. Work with various stakeholders including US Operations and ZTD leads to promote data governance initiatives. Build and manage a strong team of data governance professionals, provide coaching to ensure the team is effectively working to achieve data governance goals.
Policy Development and Implementation - Establish, implement and maintain data governance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure consistent data management practices across the organization.
Change Management - Lead change management efforts related to data governance to promote data governance awareness and educate colleagues on data standards, rules and key metrics to ensure that data assets are used effectively and appropriately in the organization.
Business owner of US commercial data in Digital Data Platform (DDP): Perform the business process owner role of the US commercial data processing and management of the US commercial data in DDP (Digital, Data Platform). Partner with ZTD (Zoetis Tech and Digital) to ensure that the US commercial and related data in DDP meets business expectations and outcomes.
Data Governance Council: Establish and lead a Data Governance Council or Steering Committee composed of key stakeholders from various business units and Zoetis Tech & Digital (ZTD). Facilitate regular meetings, communicate data activities including data quality, business and data rules, data changes.
Data Quality Management: Define data quality standards, metrics, and monitoring processes to ensure data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability. Partner with business and ZTD to implement data profiling and data cleansing techniques across all systems that generate, manage, or consume sales data, to address data quality issues.
Data Privacy and Compliance: Ensure data governance practices align with relevant information security, privacy, and compliance expectations in collaboration with Information security, legal and compliance teams.
Data Standards, Business Rules, and Metadata Management: Develop and maintain data standards, naming conventions, business rules for metrics and KPIs, and metadata frameworks to ensure consistent and standardized data definitions, business rules, and usage across systems and business units.
Continuous Improvement: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of data governance initiatives. Identify areas for improvement and implement enhancements to optimize data governance processes, data quality, and data management practices.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's in engineering, computer science or equivalent is strongly preferred, MBA or advanced degree a plus
- 15+ years of work experience in data and analytics role(s), with experience in supporting technology and data management functions preferred.
- 5+ Years leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and large-scale delivery projects.
- Experience in data governance is required
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- Strategic problem-solving and ability to drive creative solutions in a complex environment
- Ability to lead and motivate a team, manage projects effectively and lead through change
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence without authority, motivate cross-functional teams to common goals, and drive behavior change
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets to inform strategy and proficiency with quantitative languages and tools including SQL (or another advanced programming language such as R, C++, etc.) and Microsoft Office suite
- Experience with tools and technologies used for data governance, data quality and data cataloging
- Strong process management skills, including the ability to (re)define processes and conduct continuous improvement efforts
- Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to synthesize actionable recommendations
- Experience with data privacy laws (like GDPR, CCPA) and security protocols to ensure data compliance
- Familiarity with business intelligence tools such as Tableau preferred
